One Piece Anime Makes History in Las Vegas with Showings on the Sphere in June 2024

On Monday, May 20, 2024, Toei Animation’s official X account (previously known as Twitter) revealed plans for a collaboration between their One Piece anime and the Las Vegas Sphere event venue. According to Toei Animation’s announcement, fans can look forward to a spectacular and grand showcase of the beloved series from Monday, June 10 to Sunday, June 16, 2024 in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

As of writing this article, specific details have not yet been disclosed. However, it is believed that the Sphere will showcase highlights from recent arcs of the One Piece anime during this period. Another plausible option could be the release of fresh promotional material specially created for display on the Sphere, given the anime series’ history of collaborations.

The One Piece anime has added another impressive collaboration to its roster with the upcoming partnership with the Sphere event venue. This collaboration follows the recent announcement of a collaboration between the franchise and the Boston Red Sox of the MLB. Additionally, in December 2023, during the 2023 NFL regular season, the franchise also collaborated with the Los Angeles Rams for one of their home games against the Cleveland Browns.

It is likely that Oda’s series has received numerous collaborations due to the success of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the original manga. The adaptation premiered in August 2023, before these three collaborations, indicating that it effectively introduced the franchise to a wider audience.

Despite the prevalence of American comics from publishers like Marvel and DC, Oda’s manga remains the top-selling comic series in terms of both total circulation and book volume. As of December 2023, it holds the record for history’s best-selling manga with 523.2 million copies sold in 61 countries and regions worldwide.

As June approaches, more details are anticipated to be released about the upcoming collaboration for the One Piece anime series. These details will likely include any special events that will take place during the collaboration and further information on what will be featured on the Sphere during this week-long partnership.

Oda’s popular manga series initially debuted in July 1997 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and has been continuously serialized to this day. However, the author has announced that the series has entered its Final Saga with the Egghead arc in Summer 2023. In recent statements, Oda has revealed that the series is expected to continue for approximately 3 more years before its conclusion.

The television anime adaptation of Oda’s manga by Toei Animation has been airing regularly since its debut in October 1999. A new remake of the One Piece anime has been confirmed to be in production by Wit Studios and Netflix. However, there is currently no further information available about this remake at the time of writing this article.
