According to the spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1114, Dr. Vegapunk discloses that a person named Joy Boy lived 900 years ago in the Ancient Kingdom. Additionally, he states that Joy Boy had the extraordinary power of stretching, leading many fans to draw comparisons with Luffy.

The revelation of Joy Boy’s presence during the Void Century is just as exciting, as it suggests the potential for Luffy and Joy Boy to possess similar abilities.

In Chapter 1044, an interesting development arose when Zunesha announced that it could hear the ‘Drums of Liberation.’ At the same time, it also predicted the return of Joy Boy. To the astonishment of everyone, the drums were in harmony with Monkey D Luffy’s heartbeat, causing his Devil Fruit power to awaken.

The Five Elders disclosed that Luffy’s Devil Fruit was not categorized as a Paramecia type, but instead, it was the Human-Human fruit, a legendary Zoan fruit that grants the user the ability to transform into and acquire the characteristics of the revered Sun God Nika.

Possessing this power allows one to embody the warrior of liberation and experience boundless freedom, limited only by their imagination.

It was clarified that Joy Boy is not a reincarnation who will appear after 800 years. Rather, the title of Joy Boy is bestowed upon those who possess the ambition to bring about change in the world. Monkey D Luffy earns this title after awakening his devil fruit powers and emerging victorious in his battle against the seemingly unbeatable Kaido in the Wano saga’s finale.

Despite their shared role as liberators, Luffy and Joy Boy did not consume the same Devil Fruit, ultimately demonstrating their distinct identities. In conclusion, although they share a connection, their individual paths and choices set them apart.

Is Joy Boy Related to Luffy and the D Clan?

The connection between Joy Boy and the Ancient Kingdom is strong, especially with the discovery of his poneglyph at Fishman Island. It is believed that Joy Boy not only belonged to the Ancient Kingdom but also held the position of king and was a founding member of the “D” Clan.

Just before the downfall of the Ancient Kingdom, Joy Boy expressed his regrets to the Mermaid Princess for not being able to keep his promise. He had pledged to lead “Poseidon”towards the correct course, which would have brought about profound transformations in society. His plan was to bring the Merfolk to the surface and create a world where they could coexist with humans and abolish slavery.

Despite experiencing defeat, Joy Boy delegated this responsibility to another individual, and it is now quite apparent who that person is. When comparing Joy Boy’s actions as a member of the “D”Clan to those of Luffy, they bear a striking resemblance, possibly for a significant purpose.

Based on a well-known theory, it is believed that Joy Boy’s will embodies the will of the “D”Clan. Therefore, Luffy, as the inheritor of this will, has made Joy Boy’s promise his own – to bring Poseidon, also known as Shirahoshi and the fishmen, to the world beyond and ensure their equality with humans.

Despite this theory, it is unlikely that Luffy possesses Joy Boy’s will as it has been repeatedly mentioned that he inherits Gol D. Roger’s will.
