One Piece chapter 1121: Luffy and Bonney join forces against Saturn as key endgame characters are introduced

The release of chapter 1121 of One Piece was highly anticipated as it was expected to mark the official start of the Straw Hats’ escape from Egghead Island. Despite the Thousand Sunny finally setting sail, the chapter did not show the beginning of their escape. However, it did lay the foundations for it to begin in the upcoming releases of the series. The chapter was officially released earlier this weekend.

In One Piece chapter 1121, the focus shifted towards the conclusion of Dr. Vegapunk’s message to the world. This also resulted in the introduction of significant characters that will play a crucial role in the series’ endgame. Along the journey, protagonist Monkey D. Luffy joined forces with Jewelry Bonney to inflict the most damage to a Gorosei in the entire arc.

Instead of having a cover story this week, One Piece chapter 1121 jumps right into the issue’s storyline after its colorful cover spread. The chapter also begins with Luffy cautioning his companions on the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship about the dangerous legs of Gorosei member Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. As Luffy gets ready to take action, several Giants shield him, but he halts when he sees Bonney, who has transformed back into her Nika form, muttering angrily and giving Saturn a fierce glare.

Similarly, he chooses to strike Saturn’s leg instead in order to protect Bonney from his assault, allowing her to soar into the sky. Saturn becomes enraged upon seeing her continue to fight, while Luffy cheers her on as the focus shifts to a different island. As this mysterious island reacts, the broadcast of Dr. Vegapunk’s message can be heard, in which he reveals that the secrets of the Void Century will soon be revealed.

In One Piece chapter 1121, Princess Shirahoshi and Nefertari D. Vivi react as Dr. Vegapunk talks about the Ancient Weapons. The chapter also briefly shows Skypiea, where Conis and Aisa meet up with their friends and are unaware of Dr. Vegapunk’s message. Dr. Vegapunk then discusses how individuals with rare ancestral backgrounds are still persecuted today due to the mysteries of the Void Century.

Bartholomew Kuma remembers his discussion with Dr. Vegapunk regarding his past as a member of the Buccaneers, as Marco reflects on his conversation with Whitebeard regarding the mythical “Kingdom of Gods”located on the Red Line. A wounded King sits in a dimly lit room, reminiscing about his identity as a Lunarian, while imprisoned Charlotte Pudding recalls a time when she was tormented because of her third eye.

In the meantime, on the ship, Saturn unleashes all of his poisonous legs and accuses Bonney of mimicking things she doesn’t comprehend. However, Luffy intervenes and kicks Saturn’s legs aside. As this is happening, Bonney reflects on her parents’ past and origins, scolding Saturn for his behavior. Chapter 1121 of One Piece also depicts Sentomaru and Kizaru’s reactions in this moment.

Bonney expresses her disapproval of Saturn’s claim to be a god, arguing that true gods and heroes do exist. As she breaks down in tears, she admits to contemplating death but found strength in her companions Kuma and Ginny, envisioning a future where they could all live in harmony. However, Saturn dismisses them as insignificant insects and tensions rise as the issue switches perspectives once again, showing the reactions of Haredas, Iceberg, Caesar Clown, and Vinsmoke Judge.

One Piece chapter 1121: The final stage starts

One Piece chapter 1121 also highlights the fact that Emeth is still restraining Gorosei members Saint Topman Warcury and Saint Shepherd Ju Peter at the shoreline. Dr. Vegapunk reflects on this and shares his belief that humanity must be ready for the day when all secrets are exposed. He also expresses his trust in science and how the passings of legends like Roger and Whitebeard signify the beginning of a new era.

As Bonney and Luffy launch their attacks on Saturn, she uses her Liberating Nika Punch and he unleashes a Gatling-style technique, both landing multiple blows. As Saturn’s body is left riddled with holes and collapsing into the sea, Dr. Vegapunk remarks on the resilience of certain individuals in the world today who cannot be oppressed. The Giants and Luffy rejoice while Bonney continues to shed tears.

In chapter 1121 of One Piece, Dorry and Brogy spot the Thousand Sunny above and notice Usopp, Chopper, Zoro, Jinbe, and the rest of the crew on board. The message left by Dr. Vegapunk suggests that these individuals are the ones who are most connected to the truth. He wonders if this is merely a coincidence or if Roger’s words were the catalyst for these events. The first chapter’s panel of Roger and his speech also make an appearance.

According to Dr. Vegapunk, there is no guarantee that the legendary treasure desired by Joy Boy will be discovered by the individuals he intended. Throughout the story, we see glimpses of Silvers Rayleigh in Sabaody, Shanks on the Red Force, and several pirates on Hachinosu. Additionally, at Emptee Bluffs Island, the Cross Guild can be seen with their foot soldiers admiring Buggy the Clown, much to the annoyance of Dracule Mihawk and Crocodile. Even at Marine headquarters, there are discussions among the soldiers about locating the elusive One Piece.

In chapter 1121 of One Piece, Dr. Vegapunk declares that there is no stopping the event that is about to occur, and that the fate of the world will be determined by whoever discovers the One Piece. The final page of the chapter showcases all of the key endgame characters of the series as he makes this statement.

This group consists of Shanks, Luffy, Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teech), Buggy the Clown, Akainu, Monkey D. Dragon, Imu (depicted in silhouette), Koby, Kuzan (previously known as Admiral Aokiji), Garling Figarland, and Sabo. Additionally, a new character is briefly shown wielding a sword that resembles Shanks’. Unfortunately, the issue concludes by confirming a series hiatus next week, making chapter 1121 the final installment for July 2024.

One Piece chapter 1121: In summation

Despite not delivering the desired setup for the finale of the Egghead arc, One Piece chapter 1121 was still an exhilarating release filled with numerous revelations. The introduction of a new character is particularly thrilling and hints at the unpredictable events that may unfold in the remaining chapters of the story.

The topic at hand also hints that Luffy has the ability to harm the Gorosei in some way, whether it be with assistance from Bonney or simply due to the presence of another attacker. As the Egghead’s escape is expected to begin in the upcoming chapter, fans can anticipate Luffy acknowledging the unique feeling of his recent attack on Saturn before the arc concludes.
