During the chapter, a flashback from two weeks prior reveals that Shaka stumbled upon some changes in Data Laboratory. He informs both Vegapunk and Pythagoras, and together they deduce that one of the Vegapunk members had betrayed them.

Initially, they believed Lilith to be the traitor, but it was actually York. As a result, they devise a plan for a counterattack. They conceal the transponder snail inside Emet and record a message. Additionally, they erase their memories from the past two weeks. The flashback ends with Vegapunk encountering his own message, which reads, “Believe in yourself and perish.”

Despite the plan, York remains unaware of the broadcast. Vegapunk’s message serves as a pivotal moment in the plot, as it sparks interest from various characters, including the Marines, in search of the One Piece. Furthermore, the revelation of the Void Century and the impending disaster it holds, becomes known to the world.

One fan wrote, “Vegapunk is truly one of the most well-developed fictional characters I have come across. He is a great character with a well-rounded story, complete with a beginning, middle, and end.”

“It’s interesting to see how Vegapunk was able to plan everything after discovering there was a traitor among the Vegapunks. Now, we just have to find out how Luffy and his crew managed to defeat York during the time gap,”another user shared on Twitter.

Another suggests that Vegapunk may have orchestrated his own death and requested Luffy’s help in order to ensure that at least one of the satellites would be saved. This way, they could potentially aid Luffy in his journey. However, Vegapunk was unable to reveal the existence of the transponder snail to Luffy at the time, as he was unaware of the traitor among them.
