One Piece chapter 1119 is scheduled to come out on July 1, 2024. However, the complete spoilers for the chapter have already been revealed. These spoilers once again hinted at York’s ability to locate the remaining Vegapunks, suggesting that Lilith and Atlas may be sacrificed in order for the Straw Hat Pirates to make their escape, similar to Pedro’s sacrifice.
The latest chapter featured the ongoing battle between Luffy’s group and Saint Marcus, during which the Gorosei was sent soaring into the air by the former’s most powerful attack. The pinnacle of the chapter saw the Iron Giant resurface from the depths of the ocean and deliver a powerful blow to Saint Warcury’s face.
Following Saint Marcus’ departure, Atlas communicated with Lilith through telepathy, informing her that their location was known to Vegapunk York through their connection to Punk Records. This could suggest that the surviving Vegapunks would be sacrificed in order to aid the Straw Hats’ escape, similar to how previous Vegapunks were sacrificed and reminiscent of Pedro’s fate on Whole Cake Island.

One Piece: Exploring the Reason Behind the Sacrifice of Vegapunk’s Lilith and Atlas for the Escape of the Straw Hat Pirates
As per the One Piece chapter 1119 spoilers, the chapter opened with a short scene featuring Stussy and Kaku, in which Kaku taunted her and urged her to leave without him. The focus then shifted back to the fight against Saint Marcus, with Luffy commanding his crew to give their all in order to launch the Gorosei into the air.
At the command of their captain, Sanji, Franky, and Bonney unleashed a powerful Armament Haki-infused attack on Luffy, solidifying their status as Haki users. The impact launched Saint Marcus high into the air. The focus then shifted to Whole Cake Island, where the news of Vegapunk’s message provoked various reactions from the group.
The scene shifted back to Egghead where Saint Peter, in his sandworm form, was sucking in the Giants. Luffy arrived to assist them, but Saint Warcury seized the opportunity to strike at the Giants. Suddenly, the Iron Giant emerged from the sea and delivered a powerful punch to Saint Warcury, causing excitement among Luffy and the onlookers.
After launching Saint Marcus into the air, Luffy asked about the whereabouts of Nami and her companions. Sanji informed him that they were running behind schedule, prompting Vegapunk Atlas to suggest asking Vegapunk Lilith for their location. Using telepathy, she reached out to Lilith and relayed the information about York’s ability to track their movements through their connection to Punk Records.
Despite the incomplete message and the conclusion of the chapter, it was clear that the Five Elders were aware of the location of each Straw Hat. This was due to each of them possessing a Vegapunk satellite, which Vegapunk York could easily track. Additionally, Vegapunk Edison bravely sacrificed himself by opening the Frontier Dome for the Straw Hat Pirates.
The concept of sacrifice has been a recurring theme in the series, as seen during the Whole Cake Island arc. Pedro, a mink, had joined the Straw Hats in their quest to rescue Sanji from a forced marriage. As the arc came to a close, the Straw Hats found themselves in a dire situation and Pedro was engaged in a confrontation with Perospero, one of the Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates.
Despite the urgency of the situation, Pedro implored the Straw Hats to escape as he planned to detonate the dynamites attached to him. Carrot, however, strongly objected to this plan, but Pedro had faith in Monkey D. Luffy’s ability to bring about a new era for the world.
Despite Perospero surviving the blast, Pedro’s body could not be found, leading to the conclusion that he sacrificed himself while trying to protect his comrades. This tragic event serves as a reminder that on Egghead Island, the Straw Hats may face similar dangerous circumstances in the upcoming chapters as they attempt to flee.
