One Piece: Fans are angry after Zoro’s last fight

One Piece fans are unhappy with the character’s ongoing fight: criticism and parodies are raining down on social networks.

The One Piece manga is ever closer to the end of the Egghead arc, and the epic scenes follow one after the other, week after week. The revelations and flashbacks are over, it’s now time for fights and explosions.

The announcement of the Buster Call created panic, the arrival of the giants Dorry and Broggy caused confusion, and Saturn’s misdeeds caused chaos on the island. Brook mischiefs with the boat, Sanji and Luffy team up to protect their friends’ escape, and Zoro… the crew’s swordsman annoys the fans in a fight that drags on.

Because the great darling of One Piece readers finds himself in the middle of a battle against Rob Lucci. A brutal confrontation, but one that is starting to get a little long. And the last appearance of the two adversaries was the icing on the cake for fans of the manga.

Zoro takes a beating after his appearance in chapter 1107

The fight between Zoro and Lucci began in chapter 1091 of One Piece, published in September 2023. However, months after the start of hostilities, the swordsman still seems in difficulty facing the CP0 agent.

In chapter 1107, the pirate’s brief appearance shows him exhausted in the face of his enemy, while announcing that it will be necessary to shorten the fight, after the remark of a Jinbe in a hurry. His comment earns him mockery from the villain, who points out that the longer he lingers, the longer the rest of the crew will have to wait on Egghead Island.

Since the beginning of One Piece, Zoro has been surpassed in popularity only by Luffy. But if the future king of pirates has never failed, the swordsman begins to disappoint, failing to defeat Lucci despite his progress. And to let off steam, what’s better than posting memes on social networks?

Scenes from Jujutsu Kaisen replaying the death of Toji after his fight against Gojo, or even from Bleach: the references abound on X/Twitter, and all serve only one purpose, to demean the swordsman.

The CP0 agent was no match for Luffy, but he remains formidable. The fight may drag on in the last chapters of One Piece, but the swordsman has not yet lost at this stage. In any case, this is what Typical Joe suggests on X/Twitter:

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Zoro deliberately prolonging the fight against Lucci to keep him busy is the best strategy. If Zoro knocked him out to run to help the others, Lucci would eventually get back up. Awakened Zoans have an incredible ability to recover. Zoro should kill Lucci, but Luffy wouldn’t approve. So the smartest strategy is to keep him busy as long as possible.”

We can assume that another of the reasons why Zoro’s fight annoys the web comes from the fact that his opponent Lucci is underestimated. All that remains is to hope that Eiichiro Oda knows how to restore the image of his character in the next chapters of One Piece.
