One Piece Hindi Dub: Indian Fans React to the Release

On Friday, April 19, 2024, Cartoon Network India announced that they will be producing and broadcasting a Hindi dubbed version of One Piece, along with Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada dubs. According to the commercial promoting the broadcast, the dubbed version will premiere on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 1 p.m. India Standard Time and will continue to air every Sunday at the same time.

The trailer for the Hindi dub of One Piece also revealed that the story will begin with the Land of Wano arc, instead of starting from the beginning or the start of the New World saga. This decision has caused some fans to express concern about the success of the dub, as it is starting quite late in the overall series.

Despite the confusing choice of starting point, fans remain largely excited and optimistic about the success of One Piece’s Hindi dub. The aforementioned caution can be seen as fans simply preparing for the worst, but ultimately hoping for the series to find success and continue beyond the Wano arc indefinitely.

One Piece’s Hindi Dub Receives Praise from Fans on Luffy’s Birthday

The One Piece Hindi dub trailer has also sparked excitement among fans with its confident statements about the series in its first trailer. The television anime adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga is described as “the greatest anime of all time,”a sentiment that many fans share and which has only increased their anticipation for the Hindi dub’s debut.

Despite this, fans continue to raise concerns about the One Piece Hindi dub’s decision to begin with the Wano arc. They worry that the series may not be successful if it starts too late. While it may be challenging to justify starting from the very beginning of the series, some are suggesting that starting from the post-time-skip point could be a reasonable compromise.

Despite this, it is likely that Cartoon Network India has access to focus group and market research data that supports their decision to begin the dub with the Wano arc. While fans’ concerns are valid, it can be assumed that this choice is a logical move for Cartoon Network India and the dub’s production, both from a business standpoint.

Despite having aired in India in the 2000s, the series was canceled due to a lack of success. This detail has led fans to express their worries about the decision to begin with Wano.

It is possible that this has influenced Cartoon Network India’s choice to begin with Wano, as they may not view previous starting points as feasible due to the franchise’s history of broadcasting in India. However, this remains speculative at the time of writing this article.

Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 1997 and has been regularly serialized since. While the manga is still ongoing, Oda has stated that it is in its Final Saga. An anime adaptation of the manga was first released in October 1999 and is still being produced by Toei Animation.
