One Piece: Joyboy’s history explained

One Piece: Joyboy’s history explained

During the Void Century, Joyboy played a significant role in the story. What details about his past have been revealed in One Piece?

Despite his mysterious nature, Joyboy is a well-known character in the One Piece manga. While Zunesha referred to Luffy as Joyboy after his Gear 5 transformation, there was also another man from the ancient world who bore that name.

During the Fish-Man Island Arc, Robin first mentioned him when she read the Poneglyph. She was searching for important details about the world’s past, but instead found a letter of apology from Joyboy to the first Poseidon.

Despite One Piece’s ongoing narrative, there are still many mysteries surrounding its protagonist and his epic journey. However, in a recent broadcast, Vegapunk divulges a forgotten history in which the central figure is none other than Joyboy. The latest chapter, 1115, offers a crucial hint about Joyboy’s past. Caution: The following article contains spoilers for Chapter 1115.

It has been suggested that Joyboy and Luffy possess the same abilities as Nika, as they both seem to have consumed the same devil fruit. The World Government has been relentlessly pursuing the Hito Hito no Mi: Mythical Type, Model Nika, but it has been rumored that certain devil fruits have a will of their own and can only be captured after 800 years.

Despite Shanks stealing it, Luffy still ended up consuming the item. Additionally, the series has disclosed that only three characters have a connection to him: Poseidon, Zunesha, and Iron Giant. While he feels remorseful for not fulfilling his promise to Poseidon, both Zunesha and Iron Giant also share a sense of regret for not being able to support him.

The Fate of Joyboy During the Void Century

The war marked the end of the Void Century, as Joyboy was defeated.

The series offered numerous clues suggesting that Joyboy played a significant role in the Void Century. It is believed that he battled against the 20 nations – or perhaps it should be 19, as Queen Lili presumably switched alliances following the formation of the World Government.

Despite Joyboy’s defeat, the Void Century came to an end as the World Government attempted to eradicate all evidence of the past 100 years. However, they were caught off guard by Queen Lili’s action of dispersing the Poneglyphs across the world.

Joyboy’s downfall ultimately resulted in the world’s downfall, leading to its domination by a tyrannical and oppressive World Government. Additionally, the centuries-long war drastically altered the world, causing continents to sink.

Joyboy’s First Appearance in the One Piece Manga

Joyboy’s first appearance is documented in One Piece Chapter 1115 in the form of his silhouette.

Despite not being officially released, spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1115 reveal a small panel showing Joyboy’s silhouette facing off against multiple crowned individuals. This panel confirms that Joyboy bravely fought alone against them. However, the manga has still not revealed his true identity.

Joyboy’s First Appearance in the One Piece Anime

Despite being a highly anticipated character, Joyboy has yet to make an appearance in the One Piece anime.

Despite entering the Final Saga, the One Piece anime will require several months to adapt Chapter 1115. The most recent episode, released on 19 May, covered Chapter 1073 from the manga. As a result, the anime must adapt a minimum of 42 chapters before revealing his silhouette.
