One Piece Live Action Season 2 to Utilize New Filming Studio in Partnership with Cape Town Film

On Friday, June 14, 2024, @OP_Netflix_Fan, a well-known series leaker and X (formerly Twitter) user, shared some thrilling updates about the second season of One Piece Live Action. The post revealed that Netflix has teamed up with New Vision Film Studios Africa (NVFSA) and Cape Town Film Studios, the primary filming location for the first season.

NVFSA, situated on the beautiful Lourensford Estate in Somerset West, Cape Town, South Africa, occupies a sprawling 4,000-hectare property encompassing diverse landscapes and regions. This makes it an ideal choice as the “home base”for the second season of One Piece Live Action, as the show will showcase a wide range of locations.

Netflix Increases Budget for One Piece Live Action Season 2 Filming

According to StageRunner, the source of @OP_Netflix_Fan, Netflix is currently at the forefront of NVFSA with the production of the second season of a popular live-action international series. Although the title cannot be revealed due to non-disclosure agreements, it is evident that Netflix is filming the second season of One Piece Live Action. Among the series on the platform that have been confirmed to return for a second season, none match the description better than One Piece Live Action.

The article highlights NVFSA’s top-notch facilities and skilled crews, stating they are fully prepared to bring the fantasy world to reality. However, there is currently not much content on Netflix that aligns with these criteria, and the mention of a “fantastical world”further supports this argument.

The NVFSA studio boasts manicured agricultural and natural landscapes, as well as historical architecture and sweeping natural wilderness areas, including towering mountains, forests, plains, valleys, lakes, and rivers. In addition, the studio complex itself is comprised of five sound stages, construction workshops, storage facilities, and production offices.

The second season of the One Piece Live Action series is a continuation of the successful live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series on Netflix. The first season premiered on the streaming platform in late August 2023 and was renewed in September of the same year. According to reports, filming for the second season commenced in June 2024.

In July 1997, Oda’s original manga series was first published in the Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It continues to be regularly serialized in the magazine today. However, the series is currently in its Final Saga and Oda has previously stated that it may only have a few years left.

The manga has been transformed into a weekly television anime by Toei Animation, which first premiered in October 1999 and has continued to air regularly since then. More recently, Wit Studios and Netflix have announced a collaboration to produce a remake of the anime, officially titled THE ONE PIECE. As of the writing of this article, no further details on the remake have been released.
