In One Piece, there are a wide range of powers and abilities, but Bon Clay’s Devil Fruit is undoubtedly one of the most deceitful. Referred to as the Clone-Clone Fruit, this fruit grants its wielders the unique capability to mimic the voice and appearance of anyone they come into physical contact with using their hand.
The Clone-Clone Fruit is known to fans as the deceptive power wielded by Bentham, a character who appeared in the Arabasta Arc as Mr 2 Bon Clay. In the latest One Piece Magazine Vol. 18, the design of the Clone-Clone Fruit that Bon Clay often uses to trick his enemies has been unveiled.
The Design of Bon Clay’s Clone-Clone Fruit Finally Revealed in One Piece Magazine Vol. 18
Everything about the Clone-Clone Fruit
The appearance of the Clone-Clone Fruit, also known as Mane-Mane no Mi in its original Japanese spelling, was first unveiled in the series alongside its current user, Bentham “Bon Clay.” After much anticipation, the upcoming One Piece Magazine, set to be released on June 4, 2024, has finally revealed the appearance of this powerful Devil Fruit.
Upon initial inspection, the Devil Fruit possessed by Bon Clay appears to be a set of vibrant orange calabash fruits linked together by a pale green stem. Its distinct swirling design, commonly found in all Devil Fruits, is also present, along with multiple vertical pink stripes.
The Clone-Clone Fruit’s vibrant appearance appears to be a fitting reflection of its user’s eccentric nature. Nevertheless, Bentham is not the sole individual to have possessed this Devil Fruit. Several decades ago, it belonged to Kurozumi Higurashi, who utilized its powers to trick both Kozuki Oden and his father, Sukiyaki.
Approximately two decades prior to the present events in One Piece, the Clone-Clone Fruit reappeared following the brutal death of Higurashi at the hands of Kaido. The fruit was eventually consumed by Bentham, but it is uncertain whether he ingested it before or after joining Crocodile’s Baroque Works.
As is common knowledge, Baroque Works assigned numbered codenames to their male agents, with a lower number indicating a higher level of strength. With his codename as “Mr 2 Bon Clay,”he held the third highest position among the male members of the organization, ranking only below Mr 0 and Mr 1.
In Arabasta, Bentham engaged in a fierce battle against Sanji but ultimately succumbed to the formidable cook’s strength. However, after witnessing the strong bond of the Straw Hat crew, Bentham selflessly sacrificed himself to aid his former adversaries in escaping from the clutches of the Marines.
Bon Clay quickly became a beloved character among One Piece fans due to his actions in Impel Down. Once again, the former Baroque Works member risked his life to aid Luffy, demonstrating his unwavering loyalty and spontaneous friendship.
Bentham, known as “Bon Clay,”utilizes the deceptive abilities of the Clone-Clone Fruit to confuse his enemies. By transforming into a perfect copy of anyone he has made physical contact with, he was able to masquerade as Nefertari Cobra in order to manipulate the people of Arabasta and as Nami to trap Sanji. Additionally, Bentham took on the appearance of Magellan to aid Luffy and his companions in their escape from Impel Down.
It is important to note that neither Bentham nor any other user of the Clone-Clone Fruit has the ability to transform into a person whose face they have never touched. However, Bentham can quickly return to his original body by simply touching his face with his left hand.
The Clone-Clone Fruit is able to duplicate a person’s voice and physical appearance, but it is unable to replicate their possessions or actions. This means that the effectiveness of deceit relies on Bentham’s acting abilities. Additionally, the fruit is also unable to mimic a person’s combat skills and techniques.
Overall, this Devil Fruit may not possess strong offensive capabilities, but it can prove to be highly advantageous for deceiving and infiltrating to gain a strategic edge.
