The 21-year-old J-pop singer Ado, who is also known for her role as Uta in “One Piece Film: Red,”has revealed plans to hold a handshake event.
Despite her identity remaining a mystery, how will she manage to do it? Meanwhile, fans are expressing their disappointment due to THIS.
On June 20, Ado revealed plans for her first-ever handshake event in collaboration with Universal Music Japan. This promotional event will be held in celebration of the upcoming release of her second mini-album, “Zanmu,”on July 10.

Ado made her debut in the music industry at the age of 14 as an “utaite,”which refers to a singer who covers songs by other artists, often from anime or games.
Despite her relatively new career, Ado’s exceptional talent and growing recognition led her to release her first single, “Usseewa,”in 2020. The song quickly gained popularity, becoming a smash hit both in Japan and abroad.
In the year 2021, she achieved the No. 1 position on Billboard Japan’s Hot 100 chart with the same song.
As she released her next songs “Odo”and “Yoru No Pierrot”in the same year, her career skyrocketed rapidly.
Her “heyday”would come after she was selected to be the singing voice of Uta, a character in the 2022 movie “One Piece Film: Red.”
When Ado released the album “Uta’s Songs: One Piece Film Red,”it included the popular theme song “New Genesis.”
In 2023, she also collaborated with the K-pop group LE SSERAFIM x Nile Rodgers during the release of the Japanese version of their song, “UNFORGIVEN.”

Additionally, she is the artist responsible for the vocals on the opening theme of “SPY x FAMILY”Season 2, titled “Kura Kura.”
Despite her numerous accomplishments, she has always kept her true identity hidden from the public. Therefore, when news of her handshake event broke, fans were left wondering if Ado would finally unveil her face, which has been shrouded in mystery since she made her debut in 2017.
The response is NO.
It seems that she will continue to conceal her face at the event by remaining inside a large box. Fans will approach one at a time and place their forearm through a designated hole, with precautions in place to ensure that they are unable to peek or catch a glimpse of the idol – not even her hand.
UMJ has announced that a limited number of 1000 fans will have the opportunity to participate in this event, with the condition being the purchase of a “Zanmu”album copy. The fans will be divided into two groups.

The purchaser will receive a unique serial number to participate in the lottery. They have the chance to win one of three prizes, which include a ticket to the handshake event, a ticket to her Yokohama concert, or personalized autographed posters.
Despite the announcement, fans were still disappointed and frustrated that, even after all these years, she had not shown her face. Some went as far as to label her and UMJ as a scam.
Despite not being able to see her hands, there are those who doubt whether Ado’s actual hands are present or if she is using a mechanical hand. This setup has also led to some individuals mockingly teasing her.

“I don’t understand, how does she have a concert and NOT show her face? Does she wear a mask the entire time?
So, it could be any random person, or even a mechanical hand/arm for all anyone knows? then what is anyone actually paying for? Talk about a scam for s*ckers.”
On the other hand, some are pleased with Ado’s commitment to her concept of not revealing her face because it allows her to avoid the pressure of dressing up and wearing makeup.
Her fans will not delve too deeply into her looks and personal life, allowing them to concentrate solely on her natural talents.

Ado’s style means auto tune isn’t an option because going off key, screams, vocal flips random sounds are all part of her singing, auto tune would actually be a detriment!”
