WIT Studio is currently involved in the production of the One Piece anime remake, and one of the voice actors from the original anime has expressed interest in joining the cast in the future.
One Piece, a well-known manga created by Eiichiro Oda, gained even more worldwide fame following Netflix’s release of a live-action adaptation. At Jump Festa 2024, the franchise revealed that WIT Studio will be collaborating with Netflix for a remake of One Piece.
The upcoming remake will encompass the entire East Blue Saga, which is the first saga in the One Piece series where Luffy embarks on his journey and assembles the greatest crew in the world. Furthermore, the production of Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series has also been confirmed, with the exciting addition of Ace making an appearance in the show.
The voice actor for Ace, from the Toei Animation studio, has officially announced he will continue to voice the character in the Japanese dub of OPLA. Additionally, he has expressed his desire to be part of the cast for the upcoming anime remake.

As reported by a well-known One Piece fan account, Toshio Furukawa, the voice of Ace, expressed his desire to reprise his role in the remake. However, he is unsure if he will be asked to do so. Nonetheless, he has confirmed that he will be lending his voice to Ace in the second season of the One Piece live-action Japanese dub.
The initial season of the anime remake will not feature the character Portgas D. Ace. However, it is probable that WIT Studio will continue to adapt additional story arcs in the future. In the event of a second season, it is almost certain that Ace will make an appearance.
According to one fan who expressed their thoughts, the remake may take several years to complete. They also questioned whether it was wise to have all the voice actors reprise their roles as they may be too old.
“While I have a deep appreciation for the old voice actors, I believe it is necessary for the remake to have new voices,”said another person. “All characters should be portrayed by new voice actors. After all, if there is an opportunity to recreate everything, why not seize it?”
