The One Piece manga is about to focus more on Dorry and Broggy. But who are they exactly? We explain their links to Luffy and his crew.
One Piece is a monumental work: the manga signed by Eiichiro Oda is terribly long, and its characters are innumerable. Obviously, it can be difficult to remember each of them, in the middle of the thousand chapters – and episodes for the animated adaptation.
The last chapters focused on Doctor Vegapunk, Kuma and Bonney: through moving flashbacks, we discovered their shared history. But the author has done with the past, and returned to the present.
As we know, the story is in its final saga and plunges its heroes into the chaos of Egghead Island. And while Luffy and company still have to face the dangerous Saturn and Admiral Kizaru, two newcomers may well take readers by surprise if recent spoilers for chapter 1106 are to be believed: Dorry and Broggy.
But who really are these two characters? We explain their connection with the Straw Hat crew.

Who are Dorry and Broggy in One Piece?
Dorry and Broggy are giants from the island of Elbaf, introduced during the Little Garden arc of the Alabasta saga of One Piece. About 102 years ago, the two of them led the Pirate Pirates, but then engaged in a century-long duel.
The duo began to fight in Little Garden, the garden of giants, to determine which would be more powerful of the two. Neither one nor the other ever completely wins: because the two colossi are constantly on an equal footing. When Luffy and his crew arrive on the island, they meet them and (more or less) easily become friends with them.
Despite their century-old fight, the two giants are linked by immense mutual respect. It took the intervention of Baroque Works for the duel to end, tipping the scales in Broggy’s favor: Dorry accepts his defeat with pride, and the two friends become friends again for good.
The links between Luffy’s crew and the duo Dorry and Broggy
Luffy and Usopp do not hide their fascination with the pride of giants in being great warriors. A promise was made: everyone will meet one day on Elbaf. After which, Dorry and Broggy disappeared from the series.

However, the Egghead arc will bring them back. They were seen partying with Shanks and his crew. They also attacked Eustass Kidd’s ship after he challenged the Yonko. But their participation will be much greater in the sequel: because the spoilers of chapter 1106 promise a shattering return to the forefront, after having destroyed a Navy ship and while the island of Egghead is targeted by a Buster Call.
The Marines clearly identify them but are surprised to see them alive. The duo is actually on their way to find Luffy, who now embodies their respected sun god Nika. Finally, it is very likely that the Elbaf arc will be coming soon in One Piece.
