One Piece: Why Egghead is already the best arc of all time

Despite still being ongoing, the Egghead Arc has already proven itself to be the greatest One Piece arc of all time, with even more exciting developments yet to come.

In the past 27 years, One Piece has consistently delivered captivating story arcs, intricate mythology, and intense battles. The show, originally created by Eiichiro Oda, centers around Monkey D. Luffy’s quest to obtain the fabled treasure One Piece and become the ultimate Pirate King.

To achieve his ultimate goal, Luffy assembles a formidable crew, embarks on adventures to various extraordinary islands, and triumphs over countless formidable enemies. These experiences have propelled Luffy towards his destiny of becoming the Pirate King, and now he has arrived at Egghead.

The Egghead Arc is undeniably the most crucial arc to date, as it unveils numerous enigmas surrounding the Void Century, a cryptic era intertwined with the One Piece. This is precisely why it has already earned the top spot as the greatest One Piece arc of all time. Please note: This article contains spoilers from the manga!

What is happening in the New World?

As the Straw Hats engage in their battle in Egghead, the New World remains far from peaceful. After a period of relative calm following the Summit War, the world is now witnessing the removal of some of its most powerful players. The abolishment of the Warlord System and the replacement of Yonkos are just the beginning of the changes taking place.

After the defeat of Kaido and Big Mom, Eustass Kid was occupied with creating chaos. He bravely challenged Shanks in Elbaf, but faced a significant setback. Meanwhile, Law’s luck ran out as he encountered Blackbeard and experienced a similar outcome as Kid.

In addition, Monkey D. Garp, a renowned Marine Hero and living legend, is defeated by Blackbeard’s top commanders in Hachinosu. While Koby successfully rescues him, Garp’s defeat is a significant blow to the world. It is uncertain if these characters have survived.

Egghead Arc solves several mysteries

The significance of Egghead as an arc was unexpected, especially given its early appearance following the conclusion of the Wano Saga. Oda wasted no time in introducing Vegapunk to the crew as soon as they arrived on the island.

In addition, Sabo reveals information about the Reverie Incident and we finally learn the truth behind the mysterious D. Despite numerous fan theories, Eiichiro Oda once again demonstrates his unpredictability.

Prior to assassinating Nefertari Cobra, the Gorosei and Imu disclose that individuals with the initial “D”pose a significant threat to them. As a result of Queen Lili’s “mistake,”all individuals bearing the “D”name are now viewed as “enemies of the gods.”This error refers to the dispersal of the Poneglyphs, which hold crucial information about the Void Century.

It has been over 800 years since Queen Lili ruled the Arabasta Kingdom, but her disappearance after the establishment of the World Government suggests that she may have been killed by her enemies.

In addition, viewers are also given a glimpse into Kuma’s past, which is considered one of the most tragic and somber backstories in the series. This flashback reveals the underlying reasons for Kuma’s unwavering determination to safeguard the Straw Hats and their vessel. Furthermore, the shocking revelation about the God Valley Incident left fans in awe as they discovered that the island was actually a place for hunting.

Moreover, Eiichiro Oda unexpectedly discloses the true appearances of the Gorosei, who were previously thought to be the ultimate adversaries. The Straw Hats are no match for the formidable Gorosei and must prioritize their goal of escaping the island.

Despite all the shocking revelations in the arc, perhaps the most startling is Vegapunk’s message. The esteemed scientist discloses to the entire world that the planet will eventually be submerged in the ocean. Although Vegapunk possesses extensive knowledge about the Void Century, there are still aspects that remain unknown. Therefore, it is highly likely that his statement is connected to the enigmatic past and the mysterious ancient kingdom.

Why are the battles in Egghead Arc significant?

Despite the incredible quality of the series, it remains a difficult task to satisfy a fandom of such size. While there are some who argue that the fight scenes in Egghead may not live up to the standards of the other story arcs, it should be noted that Oda has still managed to incorporate plenty of thrilling action while also delving into the lore.

Initially, the highly anticipated rematch between Luffy and Lucci involves the use of their devil fruits. While their initial fight has gained popularity among fans, this second encounter showcases Luffy’s significant growth during the interval. Furthermore, his Gear 5 appears to have evolved since his time in Wano, as he has become more proficient with his newfound powers.

Previously, Lucci could only be defeated by Luffy, the most powerful member of the Straw Hats. However, Zoro has now proven himself capable of defeating him. Furthermore, the long-standing debate of Yonko versus Admiral is settled when Luffy emerges victorious in his battle against Kizaru.

Despite the challenge Kizaru posed to them in Sabaody, the Straw Hats have once again achieved an incredible feat. Additionally, the recent revelation of the Gorosei’s power and the Straw Hats’ inability to defeat them offers a glimpse of the formidable opponents they will face in the upcoming final war.

The purpose of these battles is not only to amuse readers, but also to showcase the crew’s development and highlight their inability to face the final stage. Therefore, it is evident that they require further training in the story. Although there will not be another time skip, it is essential for the crew to continue leveling up.

What more’s to come in One Piece?

Despite the Egghead Arc not being completed, it has provided a more defined path for the future of the story. The Straw Hats have set their sights on Elbaf Island as their next destination, an enigmatic location. The desire to explore the land of the giants has been with the crew since the Little Garden Arc, particularly with Luffy and Usopp.

According to the Road to Laughtale, it is believed that Elbaf may be home to the fourth Road Poneglyph. However, if this is not the case, there may still be some clues present. Giants have been known as proud and skilled warriors for centuries, with their massive bodies and incredible abilities making them one of the most formidable species in the world.

Training in Elbaf under the tutelage of skilled warriors like Dory and Brogy is simply unmatched for our crew. Moreover, as followers of Nika, the Giants’ perspective on the story could offer valuable insights. Despite the gradual revelation of secrets in the series, there remains much that we have yet to uncover. The Egghead arc stands out for its unrivaled ability to solve mysteries, and there is undoubtedly more to come.
