One Piece’s Conqueror’s Haki Club and Sanji’s Lack of Ambition

One Piece’s Conqueror’s Haki Club and Sanji’s Lack of Ambition

Haki is widely considered to be the most formidable power in the world of One Piece, as affirmed by Kaido who declared it superior to all other forms of power. While there are multiple types of Haki, one reigns supreme and is possessed by only a select few characters in the series: the Conqueror’s Haki.

This type of Haki is only possessed by the strongest individuals who possess the determination to become the ultimate conqueror of the Grand Line. As a result, powerful figures such as Luffy, Whitebeard, and Roger are known to possess this type of Haki. However, there has been a character that fans have speculated to have this ability, but based on his personality, it is unlikely that he could ever awaken it.

Sanji, the cook of the Straw Hats, is known as Vinsmoke Sanji. During the Wano arc, Zoro’s awakening of his Haki sparked speculation among Sanji fans about whether their beloved character would also awaken his Haki in the future. They eagerly searched for ways to support this possibility.

Despite his lack of true ambition, Sanji was never able to awaken his Conqueror Haki.

Why Sanji would never awaken Conqueror’s Haki in One Piece

Conqueror’s Haki cannot be acquired through training and can only be inherited at birth. Those born with this type of Haki possess the qualities of a ruler, including the determination to surpass all others.

Shanks first demonstrated this Haki in the opening chapter of One Piece when he used it to rescue Luffy from a ferocious sea creature. The power of this Haki allows the user to control others with their unyielding determination, causing their opponents to lose consciousness.

Just like in Shanks’ case, this Haki is activated when the user is facing a difficult or perilous situation.

The ability was awakened by the protagonist, Monkey D Luffy, when he prevented Motobaro, the ox of Duval, from running him over. Similarly, Roronoa Zoro also awakened this ability during his fight against Kaido. Therefore, possessing this Haki from birth gives the individual king-like abilities, as evidenced by the ambitions of those who possess it.

Each of them – Luffy, Kaido, and Big Mom with their desire to become the Pirate King, and Zoro with his goal to become the strongest swordsman – shares a similar ambition with the rest of the sword wielders.

Additionally, characters such as Whitebeard possess this trait because they have a strong desire for a family that they can protect with their immense strength. This holds true for both Garp and Katakuri.

Despite the strict ambitions held by all these characters, Vinsmoke Sanji’s desires often outweigh his goals. According to the cook of the Straw Hats, he is determined to find the All Blue, where fish from all the different Blues of the Grand Line come together.

However, as evident from his past experiences, Sanji has often succumbed to his desires and made a mockery of his ambitions. This was evident during the Fisherman Island incident, where he could not resist the allure of the beautiful mermaids and declared that scene to be his long-awaited ‘All Blue’.

Despite his teammates’ unwavering ambitions that they are unwilling to give up, Sanji does not possess the same level of true ambition, which sets him apart from a king. As a result, he is not considered a suitable candidate for possessing the Conqueror’s Haki.

Final Thoughts

During the Water 7 arc of One Piece, Sanji faced off against Kalifa, the female member of the CP9 and engaged in a fierce battle. Despite his strength, he ultimately fell to the powerful CP9 agent, not due to any weakness, but because he refused to harm a woman and was willing to accept defeat.

One of the characteristics of a king is their willingness to die rather than compromise their principles. As Sanji had firmly committed to never striking a woman, he was prepared to face death rather than betray his ideals.

It is possible that he will develop his Conqueror Haki in the future, but it is advisable to approach this information with caution and wait for an official confirmation.
