The Egghead arc in One Piece serves as a fantastic beginning to the final saga of the series, as it is packed with numerous revelations. From uncovering the truth behind the Straw Hats’ separation during the Saboady arc to exposing the real identities of the Five Elders, every reveal in this arc is far from ordinary.
The Five Elders have sparked confusion among fans who are uncertain whether their World Government authority stems from their devil fruits or if they are simply reincarnations of their devil forms. As the Egghead arc enters its final stage and the series reaches its climax, it is crucial that other mysteries surrounding the series are also unveiled. One of these mysteries is the identity of the man engulfed in flames.
Many fans may be shocked to learn that this enigmatic man was actually one of the Five Elders all along, especially since the Gorosei showed no concern about the pirate’s pursuit of Laugh Tale, despite possessing the final piece of its location. Furthermore, Blackbeard’s intentions may further support the theory that Saint Warcury is the man chosen by the flames.

One Piece: Why is Saint Warcury known as the man marked by the flames?
The man enveloped in flames has been introduced as a mysterious figure in One Piece chapter 1056. Captain Kidd first mentioned him to Monkey D Luffy, who was unfamiliar with the name. Trafalgar Law’s response upon hearing the name hinted at his own knowledge of this enigmatic individual.
In One Piece chapter 1081, the Blackbeard Pirates later disclosed all their knowledge about the enigmatic individual. According to them, the man, who was identified by flames, possessed devil fruit abilities that enabled him to generate whirlpools and destroy any ship that crossed his path. Additionally, he bore a burn scar on his face.
Many fans speculate that the mysterious man is either Sabo or Fleet Admiral Akainu, but it is more likely that he holds a position of even greater authority. One possible candidate for this man is the Five Elder known as Saint Warcury, who was introduced among the other Gorosei and was notable for the burned scar on his face.
Furthermore, he shares the characteristics of Shiryu, a member of the Blackbeard Pirates who collaborates with the World Government. Saint Warcury holds a prominent position within the World Government, making him one of the most influential members.
In chapter 1114, it was evident that he is immune to fire attacks, just like Akainu and Sabo who possess fire-based abilities. However, his powers remain a mystery as they are not fully understood unlike those of Akainu and Sabo, indicating that he may have the ability to generate whirlpools.
Warcury and the Location of Blackbeard’s Final Red Poneglyph
One of the most intriguing things about this enigmatic man was his possession of one of the 4 Red Poneglyphs. Poneglyphs, which are monumental structures, remain one of the biggest enigmas in the series as they contain information about various aspects of the Grand Line based on their specific type.
The Historical Poneglyphs hold details regarding the ancient past, while the Instructional Poneglyphs reveal the whereabouts of these historical poneglyphs. Additionally, the Road Poneglyphs disclose the location of a specific island at the final destination of the Grand Line, known as Laugh Tale.
The three types of Poneglyphs hold great significance, but the Road Poneglyphs are arguably the most crucial. These four deep red Poneglyphs are scattered throughout the Grand Line, with one located in the Mount Fuji Cavern in Wano Kingdom, another in the Room of Treasure on Whole Cake Island, and the remaining two on Zou’s Whale Tree. The Straw Hats are in possession of all four of these Poneglyphs.
The fourth and final Red Poneglyph was discovered in the Sea Forest approximately 25 years ago in the current timeline. However, it has since been moved and is believed to be in the possession of the man known as Saint Warcury, who is marked by flames. This explanation aligns with the fact that the Five Elders are not afraid of any pirate finding Laugh Tale, as they hold the key to its location.
In the midst of the Egghead arc, Catarina Devon and Van Augur of the Blackbeard Pirates successfully trapped Saint Saturn and Catarina used her devil fruit powers to mimic the appearance of the Gorosei.
The paragraph suggests that Teech and his pirate crew could possibly be located at the Holy Land of Mariejois, with Catarina disguised as Saint Saturn, in order to obtain the final piece of the puzzle (the 4th Poneglyph).
