Despite the expectation for Pokemon to be flawless, it appears that their Pokedex entries also have imperfections, as one notable inconsistency was discovered in Heracross’ description.
With constant evolutions, Pokemon are constantly changing their appearances and designs. This not only keeps them intriguing, but also aids players in distinguishing between the various Pocket Monsters. This is also true for Mega Pokemon, as it can be challenging to distinguish between a Mega version and its original form.
Occasionally, there may be some discrepancies that arise when a Pokemon transforms into its Mega form, resulting in intriguing Pokedex mistakes.
This was brought to light when a Pokemon Go player noticed that Mega Heracross was referred to as the “Single Horn Pokemon,”despite its Pokedex entry stating that it has “two horns”and is able to lift 500 times its own body weight. This inconsistency within the entry raises questions about the accuracy of information provided.
It was only natural that this would confuse numerous members of the community, leading many to believe it was just a simple typing mistake.
Despite this, the use of the same Pokedex entries for both regular and Mega Pokemon is a common occurrence. This means that the entry may not necessarily be a mistake, but rather a result of how Mega entries are designed. In fact, a comparison between the normal Heracross and its Mega form shows that the base form has one horn while the Mega form grows an additional one.
Despite not being a typo, it is still seen as a comical inconsistency within the community. Some have even playfully suggested that the second horn on the creature emerges from its chest “garage”, or that it is actually meant to be a nose.
Hopefully, with the confirmation of Mega Evolution’s return in the upcoming game Pokemon Legends Z-A, we can look forward to further fascinating developments in the already established Pokemon lore.
