House of the Dragon has unveiled a first glimpse of the White Walker featured in the Season 2 finale… and some viewers speculate that he could potentially be a Targaryen in disguise.
During Season 2 Episode 8, Daemon’s possession of Harrenhal came to an end with a startling and prophetic vision. He saw Lord Bloodraven, Daenerys, and his own eventual death, which served as a major foreshadowing for the upcoming Battle Above Gods Eye.
Significantly, he spotted White Walkers making their way through the forests beyond the Wall. Fans of House of the Dragon swiftly turned to social media to express disappointment over the apparent alteration of the Night King’s appearance – it was not him, but rather one of his generals.
Despite this, there is a growing theory that Daemon was actually resurrected and transformed into one of the White Walkers depicted in Game of Thrones. Warning: spoilers ahead…
House of the Dragon Theory Suggests Daemon May Be a White Walker
Despite being a wild theory, it is likely more plausible than the notion that Daemon could be the Night King, especially considering that we witnessed the Night King’s creation in Game of Thrones.

Despite putting up a valiant fight against Aemond and Vhagar above the Gods Eye, Daemon ultimately meets his demise. As the dragons spiral towards the ground, he seizes the opportunity to strike by leaping onto Vhagar and delivering a fatal blow to his nephew’s remaining eye. The two beasts then plummet into the water below.
Despite Aemond’s body remaining chained to his dragon, there was no sign of Daemon’s body. It could have been consumed by creatures of the lake or disintegrated and rotted away in its depths. Alternatively, it is possible that he was captured by the White Walkers and transformed into one of their own.
One user suggested that the resurrected individual could possibly be Daemon Targaryen, as he died in the Gods Eye and his body was not burned. This is due to the King’s supposed ability to bring back the dead, regardless of how much time has passed.
According to one fan’s prediction, the likeness between the White Walker and Daemon is more than mere chance. When comparing their profiles side-by-side, it becomes clear that the White Walker is likely a Targaryen who has always harbored a desire to be King. Perhaps this dream will come true, as it is mentioned in his prophecy.
A third person asked, “Is this Daemon’s doing? Is there a reason why he specifically saw this White Walker and not the Night King?”Another individual shared their thoughts, “Am I mistaken or does this White Walker bear a resemblance to Daemon?”
Despite the fact that the Gods Eye feeds into a river that travels south of Westeros and the White Walkers occupy the far north, there are still two minor issues to consider. This begs the question, why would they even venture close to Harrenhal?
In addition, it is important to note that White Walkers and their undead army, also known as wights, should not be mistaken for the same entity. Therefore, Daemon’s appearance would not resemble that of the generals we witness in Game of Thrones.
Despite those inexcusable details, it is possible that he could be a White Walker (let people have their fun).
