One Punch Man Illustrator Shares Disappointing News for Season 3

One Punch Man season 3 continues to disappoint fans as the manga’s illustrator shares a new update regarding the anime adaptation.

It’s not a great time for One Punch Man fans. Season 3 has been desired since August 2022, the date of its announcement accompanied by a key visual by creator Chikasi Kubota. And over time, the concern has only increased, finding an echo in a recent publication, which is not at all encouraging.

The series, however, benefits from a solid base of aficionados: adapted by the renowned studio Madhouse into anime in 2015, it quickly won over its audience. In 2019, a season 2 was created by the JC Staff studio, for more quality episodes. For the third season, yet another new challenger has taken up the challenge of animation: the MAPPA studio, already behind Jujutsu Kaisen or Attack on Titan. So, it’s all right?

Unfortunately, season 3 of One Punch Man has not been the subject of very exciting news since its announcement in 2022. And five years after the end of the second, fans still do not have precise information on its release date. Worse: the manga’s illustrator Yusuke Murata has just shared news that may well amplify the frustration surrounding the anime.

Although Yusuke Murata’s position is primarily mangaka, he has shown a strong interest in animation on several occasions. The artist even recently announced the creation of his own animation studio. Many fans therefore came to the conclusion that he would be involved in the adaptation of One Punch Man, wrongly. In his publication, Murata explains that he has focused on his own projects, denying any rumors regarding his participation in the superhero anime.

In January 2024, Yusuke Murata’s official Twitter/X account began streaming four new videos for his anime project Zaiyuki in collaboration with Village Studio. The first part of the anime project features a young kappa, a creature from Japanese folklore, refusing to behave like one: he can’t swim, loses all his sumo matches, and hates cucumbers.
