One Shot Destiny 2 Exotic Increases Hunter Dominance in PvP

An amazing synergy involving an underappreciated Destiny 2 Exotic enables Hunters to eliminate enemy Guardians in a single melee attack.

Since the weekend of July 26, Hunter has been the most frequently chosen class among participants in Trials of Osiris, making up 54% of the player base according to data from Trials Report. This dominance has been consistent in The Final Shape PvP.

Nevertheless, it has been discovered that meta Hunter builds are more lethal than initially thought, as evidenced by the impressive results of combining Khepri’s Sting with the Grapple and Smoke Bomb abilities of the Prismatic subclass.

According to Destiny specialist Aztecross, the combination of Grappling and Melee results in a powerful attack that deals a significant amount of damage upon contact. Moreover, utilizing a full melee energy also triggers the instant release of a Smoke Bomb, which proves to be a formidable finishing move against enemies.

The Smoke Bomb’s AOE damage in practice often results in a quick and fatal “one shot”kill, leaving Guardians with little chance to escape their inevitable demise. The ability to Grapple and Melee for an instant Final Blow makes Hunters even more deadly in PvP, providing them with yet another effective tactic to use.

Moreover, utilizing Grapple for Final Blows will consistently generate a Tangle. When paired with the Threaded Blast Echoes Artifact mod, this Tangle has the capability to eliminate Guardians in a single shot, covering a distance of up to seven meters.

To maximize its potential, it is advisable to utilize a Strand primary weapon. This enables you to swiftly eliminate the Tangle instead of having to discharge multiple rounds. Currently, top choices for PvP weapons with the Strand are Aisha’s Care, Better Devils, and Glissando-47.

Using this strategy in Trials of Osiris was highly successful, as Aztecross was able to achieve a 5-0 record in his first game while equipped with Khepri’s Sting. The Exotic’s strengths are well-suited to the competitive mode’s 3v3 format, where even a single kill can greatly impact the outcome of a match.

Despite its effectiveness, Khepri’s Sting has a few drawbacks. One major limitation is that using Grapple against a wall will not result in bonus damage when meleeing an enemy. Moreover, in order to fully utilize this Hunter Exotic, one must directly Grapple an enemy, which requires a considerable amount of skill.
