OnePlus 13 Leak Reveals Missing Feature But There’s a Silver Lining

According to a popular tipster, the OnePlus 13 may not offer wireless charging as the company is reportedly removing this feature. However, it is expected to come with a larger battery as compensation.

Despite the anticipation for the OnePlus 13, it is not predicted to be released in the global market until early next year, following the launch patterns of its predecessor. Nevertheless, leaks regarding the phone’s features are already surfacing, with the most recent one disclosing information about its wireless charging capabilities.

According to Notebookcheck and tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming OnePlus 13 is expected to not have wireless charging, but will feature a 6,000mAh battery and 100W wired charging, similar to the OnePlus 12.

The OnePlus 12, following the OnePlus 10 Pro, became the first OnePlus phone to feature wireless charging. It is capable of reaching speeds of up to 50W using the AirVOOC standard. We conducted a test of the phone’s wireless charging capabilities and confirmed that, as advertised, it could fully charge the battery in just over 30 minutes.

Smartphones rarely offer wireless charging as fast as this. Even the top Android phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, are limited to 15W, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max only reaches a maximum of 15W through MagSafe.

The reason for OnePlus potentially removing wireless charging from the OnePlus 13 is not clear. It is speculated that this decision could be due to the inclusion of a larger 6,000mAh battery. As the upcoming model is expected to have a bigger battery than the OnePlus 12, it may also result in a heavier phone. Therefore, adding wireless charging to an already heavy device could potentially be problematic.

The recent OnePlus 13 leaks have unveiled that the upcoming smartphone will have a new design, eliminating the circular camera module. It is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor and have a curved display on all four edges.
