Despite being inducted as one of ALGS’ Year 4 Partnered Teams, OpTic Gaming has abruptly exited the Apex Legends scene after failing to qualify for the Split 1 Playoffs, resulting in the organization dropping its roster.
After not making it to the Split 1 Playoffs, OpTic has decided to release its ALGS roster. As part of their departure, Mark “Dropped” Thees confirmed that OpTic will be exiting the scene altogether, instead of looking for a new roster.
“Dropped has confirmed that they are no longer a part of OpTic and have chosen to leave the Apex scene. They express their gratitude to the organization and fans for their support over the past year. It has been an honor to represent the Green Wall.”
Despite posting a thank you message to their ALGS team for competing under their organization on X, OpTic has not yet made an official announcement regarding their departure from the scene entirely.
Despite having the opportunity to qualify for the NA Regional Split Finals in Los Angeles, OpTic’s exit from the scene occurred due to their failure to reach the Split 1 Playoffs. Despite their efforts, the team was unable to accumulate enough points and ultimately fell just short of their goal.
The team finished in fourth place, falling just two spots short of qualifying for the Playoffs.
Despite a strong performance at the ALGS Championship in 2023 where they came in second place, narrowly losing to TSM in the Finals, OpTic has had a rough start to their current season.
Following their 2023 season, OpTic was selected to join ALGS’ Partner Teams program, which provided a monetary stipend to support participating organizations in establishing a solid program.
As of now, it remains uncertain if the trio of released players, Dropped, William “Skittlecakes” August, and Logan “Knoqd” Layou, will reunite as a team. Additionally, there is no confirmation on whether OpTic is still a member of the ALGS Partner program.
