Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Anime Confirms October 2024 Release Date and More With New PV

The highly anticipated premiere of Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime is scheduled for October 5, 2024. The anime’s official staff has officially announced this exciting news on Thursday, September 5, 2024, along with a new promotional video. The clip also unveiled additional cast members, the main staff, and the opening and ending theme songs for the upcoming series.

The anime series, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth, was created by Madhouse and is based on the medieval drama manga series by Uoto. The mangaka first released the series in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in September 2020. The manga was serialized in the magazine until April 2022, with a total of eight tankobon volumes published.

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime Orb: On the Movements of the Earth shared the full promotional video, announcing that the medieval series will debut on NHK at 11:45 PM JST on October 5, 2024 with the first two episodes. After their initial broadcast on NHK, Netflix and ABEMA will also digitally distribute each episode.

The most recent promotional video opens with a graphic scene in which a man is subjected to torture for his belief in the heliocentric model of the solar system. The clip then shifts to Rafal, a young genius, who crosses paths with Hubert and develops a deep interest in the revolutionary theory.

Significantly, the PV features a preview of the anime’s opening theme song, Kaiju, by the Japanese rock band, Sakanaction, and the ending theme, Aporia, performed by Yorushika.

The latest updates on the cast have been revealed. Katsuyuki Konishi takes on the role of Oczy, a renowned fighter who has a fear of gazing at the sky. Yuichi Nakamura, known for his portrayal of Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, lends his voice to Badeni, a monk in pursuit of the ultimate wisdom. Saya Hitomi has also been announced as part of the voice cast, playing the character of Yolenta, an astronomer.

The recently announced cast members, including Maaya Sakamoto as Rafal, Sho Hayami as Hubert, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Novak, will be joined by new voice actors. The official website for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime has released statements from the new additions, expressing their enthusiasm to be a part of the franchise.

In addition to announcing the new cast members, the anime has also unveiled the names of its main staff. Madhouse’s Kenichi Shimizu is taking on the role of director, while Shingo Irie is overseeing the scripts. Masanori Shino is credited as the character designer, and Kensuke Ushio is composing the music. Kisuke Koizumi has been enlisted as the sound director.

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime is inspired by Uoto’s manga and takes place in the fifteenth century, during a time when the geocentric theory was widely accepted. Those who supported the heliocentric theory were shunned, mistreated, and persecuted.

Despite initially showing little interest in the theory, Rafal, a child prodigy, becomes fascinated by it after learning the truth from his mentor, Hubert. Motivated by his curious nature, he sets out on a journey to uncover his mentor’s research.
