Orochimaru wasted his chance to become the strongest Naruto character by focusing only on Sasuke

Throughout the Naruto series, numerous characters have demonstrated a strong desire for power and have gone to extreme measures to attain it. One individual that stands out is Orochimaru. Under the guidance of Jiraiya, he displayed exceptional potential from a young age.

He had a strong fascination with ninjutsu and was determined to push its limits. He frequently conducted experiments, some of which involved testing on living shinobis, resulting in the majority of them meeting their demise.

Despite his determination to achieve his goals, Orochimaru ultimately missed the chance to become one of the strongest characters in the Naruto series. His fixation on Sasuke caused him to neglect other potential paths to power.

From the beginning, Orochimaru had a fixation on Sasuke Uchiha in the anime series. He was determined to capture the young shinobi at any cost, as he required a vessel.

Additionally, he recognized Sasuke’s prowess in combat and added him to the list of individuals with great potential. Orochimaru, like many other characters in Naruto, coveted Sasuke’s Sharingan due to its remarkable abilities and usefulness in battle.

Orochimaru devoted a significant amount of time trying to take over Sasuke’s body in order to prevent him from discovering other means of increasing his strength. However, he overlooked the fact that Naruto possessed the Nine-Tailed Beast, which was sealed within him. Despite this, Naruto never made an effort to harness the full potential of his Tailed Beast, which could have greatly enhanced his power throughout the series.

There are those who speculate that the main motive behind pursuing Sasuke was to obtain the Sharingan in order to gain control over the Nine-Tailed Beast. This would have been a unique strategy.

If Orochimaru had the Sharingan at his disposal, he would be able to enhance his genjutsu skills and utilize them in various situations, including both on and off the battlefield. This ability would greatly benefit his ongoing experiments, as he is known to regularly use test subjects in his research among the other characters in Naruto.

Despite the fact that possessing the Nine-Tailed Beast would have greatly augmented his chakra reserves and, combined with his access to Hashirama cells, would have made him a formidable opponent, there were certain factors that led Orochimaru to ultimately choose not to pursue Naruto in both the anime and manga adaptations.

Despite being banished from the village and considered a criminal, he continued to conduct his experiments in secrecy. With the added complication of being the Nine-Tailed Beast jinchuriki, there were numerous dangerous shinobi searching for him, making it even more challenging for Orochimaru to evade detection while also pursuing Kurama.

Despite this, if he had also acquired the Sharingan and the Nine-Tailed Beast, he would have been among the most powerful characters in Naruto.
