Orochimaru’s Possible Possession by Kami Otsutsuki in Boruto and the Justification Behind It

The Boruto manga series has delivered numerous enjoyable moments for its fans. However, due to a monthly release schedule, fans have to wait a month before a new chapter is available. This allows enough time for the fanbase to engage with social media platforms, like X (formerly known as Twitter).

Among fans, it is typical to create theories that anticipate the direction of a series or how a character will impact the plot. One particular fan developed a fascinating theory about Orochimaru’s role in the story. While this theory may seem unlikely, it is rooted in plausibility.

The theory has numerous components, but its essence is rooted in Japanese folklore, specifically in “The Tale of Gallant Jiraiya.”

Boruto Fan Theory: Orochimaru as a Puppet

In anime and manga series, it is not uncommon for writers to incorporate Japanese folklore into their storytelling. Orochimaru, for example, is inspired by a large demonic serpent from Japanese folklore that preys on humans. This character has ambitious aspirations and sets out to conquer all of Japan. One of the first steps towards achieving this goal is capturing the Tsukikage Clan, who rule over the Eigo prefecture.

The capture of this individual would have been highly beneficial, so the decision was made to target the head of the Clan, who also held the position of regent for the Shogunate. However, a mysterious individual named Orochimaru suddenly appeared and rescued the Clan leader, earning their gratitude. As a result, the Clan welcomed Orochimaru into their family. Little did they know, he was possessed by a demonic serpent with intentions of seizing control over not just the Clan, but the entire nation of Japan.

Hence, there is a strong belief among fans that the character Orochimaru from the anime and manga series may also be a puppet. According to this theory, it is believed that he is currently being controlled by Shibai Otsutsuki, a being who has achieved god-like abilities and transcended his physical form. While the series has yet to reveal the extent of Shibai’s powers, the idea of remotely controlling and manipulating humans is not far-fetched in the context of the story.

In the original series, viewers were given a peek into the shinobi’s history. As a young man, Hiruzen Sarutobi witnessed Orochimaruru with the discarded skin of a white snake, a rare occurrence according to the former Hokage.

According to the theory, Orochimaru may have been overtaken by a white snake in a way that is reminiscent of Isshiki Otsutsuki’s possession of Jigen’s body. If this is true, it could spell disaster for the shinobi of Konohagakure, as the puppet’s presence would provide distinct advantages for the Otsutsuki Clan.

Although the theory may seem a bit far-fetched due to the emphasis placed on Orochimaru, it is worth considering. We encourage fans to wait patiently for the upcoming chapters of the Boruto manga series to learn more about Orochimaru’s role in the development of the plot.

Keep an eye out for further updates on anime and manga news throughout the year 2024.
