Oscars 2024: what awards did Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer win?

After hitting the headlines when it was released last summer, the Oppenheimer film was talked about again last night, since the latest feature film by famous director Christopher Nolan won everything at the 2024 Oscars.

Back in the famous Dolby Theater located on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, the 96th Academy Awards ceremony was held on the night of March 10 to 11, 2024. An unmissable event for movie buffs, which rewards the best films of 2023, and which also marks the return of Jimmy Kimmel who officiated as master of ceremonies, a role he already held last year.

Many projects were thus highlighted during this ceremony, such as Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet, which had already received the Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, and which this time won the Oscar for best original screenplay.

But if there was one film that stole the show at the 2024 Oscars, it was that of Christopher Nolan, winning numerous awards.

Oppenheimer is therefore positioned as the flagship film of this 96th edition. Indeed, the biopic telling the story of the man nicknamed the “father of the atomic bomb” is not only the most nominated film with its 13 nominations, but it is also and above all the most awarded at the 2024 Oscars, receiving no less than 7 awards.

“Congratulations to the Oppenheimer team for winning 7 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.”

What awards did Oppenheimer win at the 2024 Oscars?

Here are all of the awards won by Oppenheimer at the 2024 Oscars:

After receiving his Best Director award from the great Steven Spielberg, Nolan sent this message of thanks, explaining that it was an honor for him to receive such an award for the first time. The director then returned to the history of cinema, explaining that “the films are barely over 100 years old” and that although he did not know “where this incredible journey will take us” , he was more than honored to make his contribution.

And if Oppenheimer was very clearly at the center of attention last night, other films still managed to get noticed during this 96th ceremony. We can notably cite Poor Creatures by Yorgos Lanthimos, which still managed to win 4 prizes, namely that of best actress for Emma Stone, but also that of best sets, best costumes as well as best makeup and hairstyles.
