With the publication of Oshi no Ko chapter 149, the manga series appears to have resolved the rivalry between Kana and Akane supporters. Akane ultimately chose to support Kana Arima’s romantic relationship with Aqua Hoshino, but it seems that her decision was not entirely selfless.

In the previous chapter, Minami and Gotanda joined the ’15-Year Lie’ cast members for a beach outing. While there, Akane revealed to Aqua that she was interested in him. Kana Arima then approached Akane and urged her to reconcile with Aqua.

In chapter 149 of Oshi no Ko, titled “By the Sea,”Kana Arima overhears Aqua and Akane’s conversation and has a brief flashback. After noticing that the meat had been grilled perfectly, Kana decides to offer some to Akkun (Aqua) before she happens to walk in on them talking.

After their conversation, Kana Arima was certain that Akane Kurokawa was the sole individual capable of winning over Aqua’s heart. With this in mind, she requested her competitor to bring back Aqua.

After noticing Aqua’s apparent openness towards her, Kana started to believe that she had a chance with him. However, upon witnessing Aqua’s behavior around Akane Kurokawa, Kana became convinced that Aqua was much happier with her kinder self.

Akane swiftly intervened to halt Kana’s assumptions, clarifying that she no longer harbored any romantic sentiments towards Aqua. As soon as she touched Kana’s arm, she could see the tears welling up in her eyes. However, Kana insisted that if Akane still held affection for Aqua Hoshino, he would undoubtedly choose her, recognizing Akane’s beauty, kindness, and talent.

Akane’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she received these compliments, causing her to start twirling her hair. She then attempted to persuade Kana of her own charm, but Kana needed to be more sincere and confess her feelings to Aqua. However, the mere thought of it made Kana too self-conscious, causing her to quickly flee.

Upon waking up the next day, Kana Arima was still in bed, tears streaming down her face. It was at this moment that Akane Kurokawa showed up at her doorstep, determined to offer her unwavering support in Kana’s pursuit of love.

Despite being perplexed by Akane’s motives, Kana learned that as Aqua’s former girlfriend, Akane wanted to have a say in who he dated. Additionally, Akane possessed valuable information about Aqua that could assist Kana in her plans.

Shortly after, while walking away from Kana’s home, the manga noticed a billboard featuring Aqua’s picture. This prompted Akane to confess her true intentions of trying to set up Aqua with Kana.

Akane was convinced that Aqua was deliberately keeping his loved ones at a distance in order to protect them from being involved in his vendetta against Hikaru Kamiki. Therefore, if Aqua were in a romantic relationship, it would hinder his ability to carry out his scheme.
