Spoilers from Chapter 162 reveal Aqua and Hikaru submerged underwater. A disturbing visual shows Hikaru being pulled down by numerous mysterious hands, including one identified as belonging to Goro.

As Hikaru sank, we gained insight into his troubled mind. His obsession with Ai led him to believe that killing Ruby would somehow bring him closer to her (a baffling thought, to say the least).

Meanwhile, Aqua was shown floating with his stomach bleeding, approaching death as he struggled for air. In these final moments, he reflected on his life, expressing his hopes for Ruby as he declared, “This time, I’ll go before you.”

To add to the suspense, the chapter concluded with the unexpected appearance of Crow Girl, floating above the water and observing Aqua. Could her presence hint at Aqua’s potential survival?

What Happened in Chapter 161?

Chapter 161 opened with Aqua confronting Hikaru, knife in hand. Aqua condemned Hikaru as a maniac fixated on eliminating those who might outshine Ai. As a result, Hikaru manipulated those around him, ruining lives.

Hikaru provocatively asked Aqua if he intended to kill him with the knife, suggesting that while it would be acceptable, it would doom Ruby to live with a murderer as a brother, which could tarnish her idol career.

He also highlighted how the media wouldn’t care for the truth, and instead, exploit Ruby’s narrative as the sister of a murderer. Hikaru pushed Aqua to consider living for love, friendships, and following his dreams, to which Aqua initially agreed.

Aqua expressed dreams of becoming a surgeon, responding to Arima’s feelings, visiting the beach with Himekawa, and witnessing Ruby’s performance at the dome. Yet, in the end, he chose the path that would secure Ruby’s future, resulting in him stabbing himself and dragging Hikaru down to the ocean. This way, he aimed to shift the narrative so that it appeared Hikaru had stabbed him, sparing Ruby from being labeled the sister of a criminal.

Will Ruby Die?

As of now, it’s difficult to determine Ruby’s fate. Aqua seems to have accepted his impending death, feeling at peace as long as it protects Ruby. However, Crow Girl’s sudden appearance creates uncertainty—should she remain a mere observer, it may hint at Aqua’s demise.
