Oshi no Ko creator reveals manga’s ending will be different in one big way

Aka Akasaka, the author of Oshi no Ko, has disclosed that the manga’s ending will feature one element that sets it apart from Kaguya-sama: Love is War, his previous work.

With Oshi no Ko Season 2 currently being broadcasted, the creators of the manga, Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, were interviewed by Da Vinci Magazine. In addition to discussing the current story arc in the anime, they also addressed the upcoming conclusion of the manga.

Akasaka discussed what readers can anticipate in the future, stating in a recent interview with Da Vinci, “We have named the concluding arc of OnK ‘Toward the Stars and Dreams.’ We are concerned about accurately conveying the essence of that concept in the manga.”

The creator also mentioned, “While working on Kaguya-sama, I made sure to give each character a proper farewell, but this time I won’t be doing that. Our focus is on showcasing everything we intended to and resolving all conflicts. It’s possible that some aspects may differ from what I’ve previously discussed with Mengo.”

Upon hearing this, Yokoyari, the artist for Oshi no Ko, responded by saying, “I have no objections to that. Please take your time and ensure that you have no lingering regrets when the story comes to an end. I am willing to wait for as long as necessary and I am always here if you need someone to talk to.”

Kaguya-sama: Love is War, the highly praised romantic comedy manga by Akasaka, made a huge impact on the manga industry when it was first released in 2015. It concluded its successful seven-year run with 281 chapters in 2022.

Similarly, the conclusion of Kaguya-sama was well-received by both critics and fans, mirroring the praise for its overall narrative. It offers a glimpse into the future of the main characters, as we witness the final day of their time at Shuiichin before Shirogane and Kaguya embark on their journey to America.

Despite the high expectations, fans have confidence that Akasaka will once again deliver a satisfying ending with Oshi no Ko. The author’s talent for crafting compelling stories is evident in his latest manga, making it unlikely that he will disappoint his readers anytime soon.
