Oshi no Ko: Discovering Aqua and Ruby’s Half-Brother

Oshi no Ko: Discovering Aqua and Ruby’s Half-Brother

While the identity of Aqua and Ruby’s father remains a mystery, Oshi no Ko Season 2 has introduced their half-brother.

At first glance, Oshi no Ko appears to be a lighthearted drama about the entertainment industry. However, the deeper we delve into the story, the more it reveals its darker elements. The initial hint of this shift occurs when we meet Ai Hoshino, a popular teenage idol who unexpectedly becomes pregnant.

Ai never discloses the father of her children, even to her closest associates. This intriguing mystery intensifies when the unknown individual orchestrates her murder through an obsessive fan.

Finding the man proves to be exceedingly difficult, as Aqua knows very little about him. Yet in Oshi no Ko Season 2, Aqua finally uncovers a clue to his identity. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

Who is Aqua and Ruby’s half-brother in Oshi no Ko?

Taiki Himekawa is Aqua and Ruby’s half-brother in Oshi no Ko.

A talented and award-winning actor, he is introduced during the 2.5D Stage Play Arc. He plays the protagonist in the Lala Lai Company’s Tokyo Blade stage adaptation, while Aqua, Akane, and Kana portray Touki, Saya, and Tsurugi, respectively.

As the group prepares for the stage premiere, Aqua realizes that one of his co-stars is his half-sibling and conducts DNA tests on each of them. By the end of the arc, he discovers that Taiki is the half-brother he has been searching for and may hold the key to their shared father’s identity.

Upon learning this, Aqua discloses the truth to Taiki, who then shares everything he knows about his parents. He reveals that his father was Seijuro Uehara, a minor actor who tragically ended his life after murdering his wife when Taiki was a child.

This revelation leaves Aqua heartbroken, as the man he has sought is deceased, which means he cannot avenge his mother anymore.

They share a complicated family history

Unbeknownst to both Taiki and Aqua, their real father is not Seijuro. Eventually, it is revealed that Lala Lai Company’s president Hikaru Kamiki is their biological father.

Hikaru was an orphan growing up and led a solitary life until he joined Lala Lai Company at age 10. There, he met Airi Himekawa, a prominent actress and Taiki’s mother, who manipulated him into a physical relationship and subsequently conceived Taiki.

She misled everyone by claiming Seijuro was the father, while emotionally abusing Hikaru for years. At 15, he met Ai, and they began a relationship, but she ended it before learning of her pregnancy.

The breakup severely impacted Hikaru, leading him to reveal the truth of Taiki’s conception to Seijuro. Upon hearing the truth, Seijuro tragically killed Airi and then himself. Following their deaths, Taiki was adopted by Toshiro Kindaichi, one of Lala Lai Company’s founding members.

Since Taiki was young when his parents perished, he never learned that Seijuro wasn’t his biological father. He believed Seijuro was unfaithful, resulting in Ai’s pregnancy out of jealousy towards his wife’s success.

Despite being related to Aqua and Ruby, Taiki’s role in the subsequent arcs is minimal. After his involvement in the Tokyo Blade, he takes on the role of Seijuro in Aqua’s film, ‘The 15-Year Lie.’

Aqua will not uncover the true identity of his biological father until the Mainstay Arc, which will not be included in Oshi no Ko Season 2. However, interested readers can pick up the manga to see what unfolds next.
