Oshi no Ko Live-Action Film Reveals Release Date, Staff, and New PV/Visual

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, the official website for Oshi no Ko live-action was launched, revealing its release date, staff details, promotional video, and teaser visual. The highly anticipated live-action adaptation is scheduled to premiere on November 28, 2024, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Fans can also look forward to a sequel movie, set to hit theaters on December 20, 2024.

Despite this, it is surprising to know that both Aqua and Ruby are actually the reincarnations of Ai’s fans who had already passed away before they were born as Ai’s children.

Oshi no Ko Live-Action Drama and Movie Release Date Announced

The live-action drama series adaptation of Oshi no Ko is scheduled to debut on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 9 PM JST. The eight-episode series has been confirmed for its premiere.

After the drama series, a continuation movie for Oshi no Ko will be released in theaters on Friday, December 20, 2024.

The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual and promotional video. The teaser visual includes clips from the drama series, arranged in a collage resembling social media posts shared by fans of each celebrity.

The promotional video featured glimpses of the old B-Komachi as Ai showcased her exhilarating skills as an idol, which pleased fans. Along with this, the video also gave fans a sneak peek of other characters, including Aqua Hoshino, Ruby Hoshino, Kana Arima, Mem-Cho, Akane Kurokawa, and Sarina Tendouji, through various snippets.

Finally, the promotional video also provided viewers with their first glimpse of Ai Hoshino’s death scene.

The planning and production responsibility for Oshi no Ko live-action projects has been taken on by Ryusuke Imoto from Toei. Smith, who is directing both the movie and drama series, is joined by Hana Matsumoto as a Director for the drama. Fortunately, she will share the responsibility with him.

The announcement also included Ryusuke Imoto’s statement regarding the Oshi no Ko live-action projects.

It was disclosed that Toei had been given the responsibility of producing the drama series and movie for Oshi no Ko two years prior. Since then, the team has faced numerous challenges in attempting to honor the source material. Despite uncertainty about how the project will be received by fans, Ryusuke Imoto expressed his desire for it to touch the hearts of all viewers. He concluded by expressing gratitude to all those who played a role in bringing the project to fruition.
