The fifth episode of Oshi no Ko season 2, titled The Curtain Rises, was broadcasted on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 pm JST. In this episode, Aqua discloses his true motive for wanting to commit murder to Akane, although he presents it as a hypothetical situation.

To everyone’s surprise, Akane willingly offers her assistance and accepts Aqua for who he truly is. She even expresses her readiness to partake in his mistakes, all in the hopes of becoming his girlfriend. However, she acknowledges that their relationship may only be based on business.

Oshi no Ko: Season 2 Episode 5 – Aqua’s True Motive Revealed to Akane

In the fifth episode of Oshi no Ko season 2, Akane, Aqua, Gotanda, and his mother gather together for a meal. Akane, grateful for Aqua’s past rescue, promises to assist him in any way possible. Aqua kindly allows Akane to view his past acting performances, which surprises Gotanda as Aqua was hesitant to do so previously. Akane then notices Aqua’s struggle with expressing emotions in his acting.

Gotanda clarifies that Aqua’s tendency to collapse during shoots was often triggered by his past, highlighting his exceptional ability to connect with other actors. Later, when Akane inquires about Aqua’s motivation for performing in stageplays, he initially evades the question. However, Aqua eventually reveals his true ambition of taking down a powerful figure in the entertainment industry, driven by his desire to climb the ranks and reach this individual.

Akane surprises Aqua with her response, “Let’s take him down together,”showing her commitment to accepting him and sharing his challenges, proving that she is willing to go to great lengths to remain his girlfriend, even if their relationship remains purely professional.

Despite this, Akane relies on Aqua to carry out his duties as her partner, which involves aiding her in defeating the formidable duo of Kana Arima and Himekawa, the most skilled actors in Lalalai. Realizing that she cannot overcome them alone, Akane enlists Aqua’s help and he willingly agrees. Together, they seek the guidance of Gotanda, who pledges to personally train and mentor them.

Episode 5: Akane and Kana’s Escalating Rivalry Prompts Himekawa to Challenge Aqua

In the fifth episode of Oshi no Ko season 2, Ruby and Minami attend rehearsals as Ruby is concerned about Akane. They encounter Melt, who informs them that the rehearsals have ended and Aqua and Akane have departed together. Gotanda is picking them up.

Upon Minami’s suggestion that they may be spending time together as a couple, Ruby confidently defends Aqua and declares that he would never do anything inappropriate. She vows to never forgive him if he were to act in such a manner. Meanwhile, Melt and Sakuya get into an argument when Sakuya makes advances towards Minami and Melt intervenes. Later, Ruby shares with Mem-Cho and Kana about adding Sakuya, causing them to caution her about men like him who are known for their playboy ways.

In Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 5, the spotlight is on the rehearsal room as Kana and Akane engage in a heated argument. Kana discloses that in their younger days, Akane used to admire her as a role model. The situation is diffused when Aqua and Melt step in. Afterward, Akane confides in Aqua about Kana’s character, while Kana confides in Himekawa and Melt about her animosity towards Akane.

In episode 5 of Oshi no Ko season 2, the dialogue between the characters reveals the origins of their rivalry and the causes of their hostility. Kana, determined to outshine Akane in their acting, enters the stage with her dagger while Akane and Aqua are practicing. She confronts Akane, pointing the dagger at her and issuing a challenge. At the same time, Melt seeks Himekawa’s perspective on which of them is superior.

Himekawa recognizes that, while the two girls have distinct acting styles, they are both equally gifted. Nevertheless, he asserts that Kana will emerge victorious this time, as he is her partner. With a confident stride, Himekawa takes to the stage, brandishing his sword provocatively at Aqua. Everyone, determined not to be defeated, begins to rehearse with utmost dedication.

As Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 5 draws to a close, the spotlight shifts to the beginning of Tokyo Blade’s stageplay. Abiko and Yoriko can be seen outside the Stage Around Play theater, with Abiko feeling nervous about the upcoming performance. Yoriko consoles her, while GOA provides further reassurance by expressing his belief in the script that he and Abiko had collaborated on.

The audience consists of Mem-Cho and other participants of the Dating Reality Show, as well as Ruby, Miyako, and Gotanda. Despite his concerns about Aqua’s emotional acting skills, Gotanda still has faith in Aqua’s abilities as an actor.

As they stood in the backstage hallway, Akane and Kana, both in costume, reaffirmed their determination to win and expressed joy at being able to perform together once more. Meanwhile, in a solitary room, Aqua sat staring at a photo of Ai on his phone.

As old memories resurface, he struggles to keep his emotions in check as a panic attack overwhelms him. However, he harnesses his inner turmoil to his advantage, preparing to take the stage. The curtains rise, marking the beginning of the Tokyo Blade 2.5D stage performance.
