Furthermore, the episode explored Aqua’s inner struggles and his determination to overcome them in order to make a memorable performance in the stage play.

The last installment featured the beginning of Akane Kurokawa’s confrontation with Kana Arima. Despite Akane’s encouragement for Kana to give her best performance, Kana’s past prevented her from doing so. Consequently, Aqua and Akane joined forces to compel Kana to act according to Akane’s wishes.

In the eighth episode of Oshi no Ko season 2, titled ‘Trigger,’ Kana Arima accepted her role in the play as the mediator for other actors. Despite Taiki Himekawa questioning her about it, Kana stood firm in her decision. Shortly after, Taiki approached Kana with some proposed changes he wanted to make in an upcoming scene. Although Kana would have preferred to be informed earlier, she was pleased to hear that he trusted her acting and willingly agreed to the improvisations.

Shortly after, the attention of the stage play shifted to the scene featuring Aqua and Taiki. While Taiki portrayed his character’s emotions passionately, Aqua opted for a more detached and emotionless approach, creating a striking contrast between Blade and Touki. Despite this, Taiki’s acting abilities were far superior to Aqua’s. At that moment, Kana Arima made her entrance on stage, signaling the start of the improvised scene.

Although Taiki had originally planned to improvise a scene, it ultimately ended up being for Kana as he pushed her towards Aqua. Taking advantage of the situation, Aqua Hoshino provoked Kana’s emotions, prompting her to act without worrying about teamwork.

This sparked a memory of Kana Arima, as the anime depicted her early acting days, influenced by her mother. Due to her own dreams of entering the entertainment industry being unfulfilled, her mother pushed Kana to pursue it in her place. However, as Kana’s fame dwindled, her mother’s behavior became unstable and she frequently caused trouble for the production team. This ultimately led to Kana’s father leaving their family for another woman.

Therefore, in order to please her mother and secure a position in the entertainment world, Kana followed Gotanda’s guidance and began collaborating with others. Although she was content with her role, Aqua’s determination allowed her to break free from it and display her exceptional acting abilities, impressing not only the audience but also her colleagues, particularly Akane Kurokawa.

Following that, episode 8 of Oshi no Ko season 2 shifted its focus towards Aqua Hoshino. Along with his desire to see Kana express herself freely, he also had a strong drive to outshine his fellow actors and make a name for himself. This led him to embrace a new, more intense acting style that involved channeling his own pain.

The one who proposed this idea to him was Taishi Gotanda himself. Aqua Hoshino’s panic attacks were triggered by his guilt over enjoying acting. As a result, Gotanda had encouraged him to take a break from the entertainment industry and seek assistance. However, despite Aqua’s determination to remain in the industry, Gotanda advised him to stop finding pleasure in acting.
