Outrage Among Fans After SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan and The8 Event Mismanagement, Brand Accused of Exploitation

On October 23, a victims’ advocacy group revealed that S brand had announced in September an initiative to invite 50 randomly chosen customers to an event featuring Jeonghan and The8. This announcement sparked a wave of interest, prompting fans to quickly purchase the brand’s merchandise, resulting in some shoppers collectively investing around 63 million KRW (equivalent to approximately $60,000).

Unfortunately, the event fell short of attendees’ expectations. Despite the promise of having 50 winners, the inclusion of additional Chinese consumers created challenges for the original winners, particularly affecting their experience at the photo wall. Moreover, attendees were left disappointed when a highly anticipated special video was not screened, without any advance notice.

According to the victims, a significant concern was the brief appearance of the SEVENTEEN members. Typically, idols engage with their audience for over 30 minutes; however, SEVENTEEN’s participation was limited to just about 9 minutes from the moment they entered until their departure.

The victims’ group filed an official complaint with S brand, but the company has not provided any substantial feedback, instead offering vague assurances of future compensation. This has led fans to voice their frustration, alleging that the brand is taking advantage of SEVENTEEN’s fame.
