Overcoming the Frustrating Joining Server Bug in Space Marine 2: A Guide for Gamers

Early access to the game was granted to owners of Space Marine 2 Gold and Ultra Edition, beginning on August 5, 2024. However, a troublesome server bug has been causing chaos for players.

Despite having the option for offline play, Space Marine 2 still requires an internet connection for saving progress and joining friends. This means that an internet connection is necessary in order to fully enjoy the game. Since the release of early access, players from all over the world have expressed frustrations with server problems, crashes, and disconnections.

The most common issue reported is the Joining Server error. This occurs when attempting to join a friend’s game, causing the player to be stuck on the loading screen for hours. Some players have encountered this problem after completing a chapter, while others have experienced it while attempting to join their friends.

Consequently, numerous players have become exasperated with the plethora of complaints emerging on Steam, Reddit, and X. One particular comment read, “Despite completing a mission, I was stuck on the joining server screen and never able to load in,”while another user stated, “I’ve been stuck on a black loading screen.”

Furthermore, simply waiting it out will not improve the situation as it only leads to being kicked out without ever being able to join. This issue also had an impact on the initial Steam reviews for the game, resulting in a Mixed rating before gradually rising to Mostly Positive.

The high server demand is likely the cause of this occurrence, which is to be expected considering the immense number of players for Space Marine 2. On Steam alone, approximately 100,000 players attempted to participate in the early access, without even including its console player base.

This also implies that if the issue is not resolved, additional players may experience difficulties when the game is released to the general public on September 9. Unfortunately, an official solution for this issue has not been announced yet, but basic troubleshooting steps such as disabling crossplay or verifying your internet connection are available.

The developers have requested for players to remain patient while they work on resolving the issue and will release the necessary updates as quickly as they can. Once a resolution is implemented, we will provide you with the necessary details.
