Despite numerous complaints from Diablo 4 players about the rarity of Greater Affixes and Uber Uniques, it is actually more beneficial for the developers to keep the drop rate as is.
The primary focus of Diablo 4 is the loot that is obtained while playing, and this is especially evident in the current Season 4. Named the Season of Loot Reborn, it is clear that the high-quality loot greatly impacts every seasonal boss and build.
Despite the challenges, Blizzard has found a way to simplify the process of obtaining Uber Uniques and Greater Affixes in Season 4 through the implementation of The Pit, a new endgame feature, and the inclusion of Tormented Uber Duriel and Andariel.
Greater Affixes serve as a valuable addition to Diablo 4’s loot system, providing players with a means to obtain better gear beyond the rare chance of finding an Uber Unique. The developers have also made improvements to their drop rates, which have been increased since Preseason and Season 1.
Even though players are aware of this, they believe that Greater Affixes and Uber Uniques should be made more obtainable for everyone, as many players have yet to come across them in their inventory. While there may be some validity to this claim, it does not necessarily mean that the developers should casually raise drop rates.
Season 4 has been doing pretty well with their loot and rewards.
One could argue that the primary motivation for engaging in Dungeons and facing endgame bosses in Diablo 4 is the possibility of obtaining exceptionally powerful items, like the Shako with multiple Greater Affixes. If these items were easily obtainable, the excitement and enjoyment of the game would be diminished.
From a simpler point of view, consider a PvP situation. Imagine one player obtained The Grandfather after countless Duriel runs, while another is facing them with a Shako after only a few Helltides. This situation is unfair to players who have dedicated their time and effort to grinding for hours.
While some people may not have the necessary time to invest in a game like Diablo 4, everyone desires to acquire powerful items. Nevertheless, Blizzard’s loot system, which is heavily dependent on RNG and grinding, has always been a key aspect of the game, and altering it to cater to a different audience may not be the best decision.
After dedicating time to the game and defeating challenging bosses and Pit tiers, obtaining a powerful item will be much more satisfying compared to continuously obtaining them through easier modes in World Tier 3.
