Overview of the NBA 2K25 Badge System – New Badges and Perks

NBA 2K25 is preparing to revamp the current Badge system by reducing the overall number of Badges, adding new Perks and Performance Multipliers, and implementing other changes.

The developers implemented these changes as part of a Courtside Report that specifically addressed MyCareer and MyPlayer. In addition to the new gameplay features, these adjustments are expected to create a smoother experience and make the progression of MyPlayer more user-friendly.

NBA 2K25 Badge System Explained

The Badge system in NBA 2K25 has been reduced to 40 Badges from the previous 77 Badges in NBA 2K24. Despite this change, the essence of the feature remains unchanged as these Badges continue to determine the style of play for your MyPlayer during games.

There are two categories of Badges, Tier 1 and Tier 2, with Tier 1 Badges being more potent and challenging to acquire. In addition to the Hall of Fame level, a freshly introduced tier known as Legend exists for Badges. This level has extremely demanding attribute criteria but provides the most significant bonuses on the court.

The categories have been restricted to Inside Scoring, Rebounding, Outside Scoring, Playmaking, General Offense, All-Around, and Defense as well.

The progress system remains unchanged from last year, as you will still earn Badges by activating them frequently during gameplay. To increase the level of your Badges, you must continue to trigger them frequently in games and also fulfill the necessary attribute requirements to advance.

The pace of progression can be increased with the use of Badge Elevators, which have the ability to permanently enhance a chosen Badge by up to 3 levels within its full potential. These items can be obtained as Season Rewards.

Upcoming Badge Perks in NBA 2K25

  • At Level 15 (Tier 2 Badge) and Level 30 (Tier 1 Badge) in each Season, players can use the Max +1 perk to boost a Badge to one level above its maximum potential. However, the Badge must first be progressed to its maximum potential before equipping this perk. It’s important to note that at the end of the Season, any Badges equipped with Max +1 will revert back to their original level.
  • This perk, Participation, ensures that badges equipped with it will earn a fixed amount of progression after every game, regardless of the number of times they are activated.
  • Synergy – Badges equipped with this perk will gain progress when your teammates make progress with the same Badge.

All Performance Multipliers

  • Playing against strong opponents can increase the rate of badge progression for all badges used in the game.
  • A Grade A Student is able to increase badge progression for all in-game badges by achieving an A-, A, or A+ when finishing games.
  • The Winner’s Circle is where winning games helps to advance the progress of all badges used in the game.
