The problem appears to exclusively impact players in the “wide group”queue. This feature was designed to enable friends to play together regardless of their ranking, but it presents a problem as every group containing a Grandmaster or higher player is classified as a “wide group.”
Shortly after the release of the initial patch that introduced the wide match system, these streamers decided to test it out. From the very beginning, players were dubbing it a “nightmare”due to the extensive wait times. Even casual players were not exempt from this issue. For instance, if a bronze player wanted to team up with a gold player, they would also have to face the negative consequences of this new matchmaking system.
