Overwatch 2 Players Express Frustration with High Price of First Mythic Weapon Skin

There has been criticism from Overwatch 2 players regarding the high price of the game’s first Mythic weapon skin, which is currently priced at approximately $80 USD. Many are labeling it as a “scam”and voicing their concerns.

Upon the release of Season 11’s trailer, Blizzard unveiled the inaugural Mythic weapon skin for Overwatch 2 – the Bound Demon skin for Reinhardt.

At that moment, the cost of a fully upgraded Mythic weapon skin was unknown to us. Nevertheless, it was speculated by numerous players that it would be slightly cheaper than a full Mythic hero skin, which is currently priced at 80 Mythic Prisms.

Now that it has been made available, it has been disclosed that it will be priced at 80 Mythic Prisms and approximately $80 USD to buy directly without the Prisms from the Premium Battle Pass.

As soon as the skin was released, numerous Overwatch 2 players took to the internet to express their discontent with the prices, with a well-received post on the Overwatch subreddit labeling it as a “scam”.

A different post expressed disappointment about the price of obtaining all the visual components of the skin, which would amount to approximately $80, or $70 for just the weapon inspect feature that was promised for release in Overwatch 2 but has not yet been introduced.

“According to a response from an X user, it was pointed out that Reinhardt is a valuable source of income as a Mercy-tier cash cow, hence why he is being heavily promoted with the arrival of the new skin.”

One player commented on Blizzard’s tweet, stating that while the skin is effective and considered one of the best weapons in the game, they cannot justify spending $80 on it.

It is not necessary to spend $80 in order to acquire the weapon skin. If you had completed the Premium Battle Pass, you would have received enough Mythic Prisms to obtain the skin. While the Battle Pass itself costs around $10, obtaining 80 Prisms would require a significant amount of time.
