Blizzard has received criticism from Overwatch 2 players for not including any launch day skins for Juno, who is releasing with only four rare skins.
The highly anticipated Season 12 of Overwatch 2 has finally arrived, bringing a plethora of fresh content. However, amidst the excitement, some players have voiced their criticisms as they feel that certain heroes are being overlooked.
Prior to its launch, supporters were heartbroken when Kiriko and Mercy were given new skins while Ramattra or Venture, newer heroes, were overlooked. The disappointment was only amplified by Overwatch 2’s director, Aaron Keller, announcing an exciting skin for Venture, but not until Season 14.
As players begin to feel that certain heroes are being neglected, it appears that Juno is also suffering from a lack of unique skins upon her release.
Players are criticizing the lack of launch day skins for Juno.
On the day of its release, Juno only offers four skins that are considered rare, making them the lowest rarity in the game and mostly just recolors. These skins include Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, and Venus.
In Season 10, Venture was initially released with only four basic skins and no additional Epic or Legendary skins. However, in the two seasons since their release, they have only received one other Rare skin (which was only available as a Twitch drop) and three Epic skins, two of which were recolors from OWCS.
“Indeed, it appears that they have significantly reduced the number of skins being released for new heroes at launch,”a player expressed their disappointment in a Reddit thread discussing the lack of cosmetics for Juno. Another player, who identified as a Venture main, added, “This comes as no surprise. Signed, Venture main.”
Some have suggested that, as this occurrence began with Venture, it is possible that the reason for not receiving new hero skins could be due to the removal of heroes from the Premium BattlePass, which may no longer provide an “incentive”for the developers to create new skins for them.
Some have speculated that the recent layoffs at Blizzard may be impacting the developers’ output. However, many players have noted that Juno’s popularity as a “cute waifu character”will likely result in numerous Juno skins being released in the future.
