A number of Overwatch 2 players have experienced receiving incorrect leaver penalties, leading to their bans even though they did not actually leave any games.
Failing to complete games in Overwatch 2 can result in consequences, particularly in competitive matches. If done repeatedly, this can lead to a ban for the entire season. However, according to recent posts on the Overwatch 2 forum by Blizzard, this has happened to some players even when they did not intentionally leave the game.
One player reported receiving a 15-minute ban after playing a few games earlier with some friends.
On the other hand, some individuals stated that they were first suspended for 15 minutes and then subsequently received a full Season 10 ban, all without receiving any prior notification or warning.
The players insisted that they had not intentionally left any of their matches and had simply been playing the game as usual. Furthermore, according to a similar report shared by X, this issue also affected those who were kicked out of a match due to a ‘failed to connect to server’ error.
Despite being a concern for the player base, Blizzard is aware of the issue and has promised to keep players updated on the situation of leaver penalties not being applied correctly.
“We kindly request that appeals not be submitted, as we will handle the situation for all players impacted instead of reviewing individual cases. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
Therefore, if you receive a sudden and unexplained ban in Overwatch 2, it is advisable to simply wait for it to expire at this time.
Currently, there are multiple recurring issues, including a bug that is preventing players from playing with their friends. Based on the evidence, it seems that all of these problems are likely stemming from server problems following the release of the Mirrorwatch patch.
