Overwatch 2 Players Heap Praise on New Feature to Quickly Avoid Toxicity

Blizzard has received praise from Overwatch 2 players for promptly implementing a new feature that allows them to avoid toxicity, report it, and even control their teammate’s voices.

In recent seasons, the developers of Overwatch 2 have been focused on improving the game’s reporting and safety functions. They have implemented streamer mode, redesigned the avoid system, and taken action against over 500,000 console players using ximmers.

Despite occasionally going too far, the reporting system has been considered a relative success. The upcoming developer update will bring yet another new feature, allowing players to immediately block out toxic behavior. This has earned the approval of the Overwatch 2 community.

In a blog post on August 19th, it was announced that additional features would be implemented for in-game reporting. These updates will allow players to mute both teammates and opponents directly from the scoreboard, minimizing any disruptions to gameplay.

The developers stated in their April dev update that the current system has a flaw where players need to pause their game, access the comms menu by pressing P, and then report or mute other players. This interrupts the flow of the game.

Following the upcoming change, the scoreboard will allow you to easily mute or adjust the volume of teammates and promptly report any toxic players.

“I am grateful for this change. It was frustrating to have to go through multiple menus just to report a player,”a commenter expressed in a Reddit thread while praising the feature. “It was disruptive to be in the heat of battle and not be able to silence someone. This change is definitely positive,”another commenter added.

“The addition of a volume slider is greatly appreciated. Many players have experienced situations where one person’s audio is as loud as a hurricane while another’s seems to be held captive,”one player remarked about the new feature.

This modification was specifically created for console players, making it more convenient than having to go through a menu and tediously report a player.

Despite some dissatisfaction with the wait for the feature, others express frustration at the delay. “It seems like every time a promising feature is announced, it takes months and months to actually be implemented in the game.”

The developers have stated that the updated scoreboard, which will be available in a “future season,”does not currently have a set date.
