Overwatch 2 Players React to Season 11 Legendary Skin Controversy

Some Overwatch 2 players are expressing their frustrations with a new Soldier 76 skin in the shop, stating that it is just a “recolor”compared to previously released skins.

Overwatch has always featured a variety of cosmetics, from simple recolored skins to more elaborate legendary ones that completely transform a hero’s appearance, such as the recently re-released Pink Mercy skin.

Ever since its release in October 2022, OW2 has continuously introduced new skins and collaborations, expanding the range of cosmetic options beyond those in the Battle Pass. However, it is evident that not all players are satisfied with the pricing of these skins.

Recently, there has been an increase in players expressing their concerns about the prices of Mythic Weapons. In response, some players have turned to Reddit to voice their frustration, claiming that the latest legendary Soldier 76 skin is simply a “recolor”of previous ones.

The player compared the newer Huntsman: 76 skin to the older Night Ops: 76 and Commandy 76 skins using images and commented, “A ‘legendary’ shop skin is essentially just a reskin with no noticeable changes.”

Despite some players in the comments arguing that the Huntsman: 76 skin is still considered legendary due to its significant changes from the base Soldier look, there were still those who expressed dissatisfaction with the new release. It should be noted that legendary recolors are not unprecedented in the game.

One player raised the concern that the skin could only be purchased with coins instead of credits. They suggested that players should have the option to buy store skins with credits, as the average player does not earn a significant amount of credits. However, the player noted that OW2 shop skins are always priced in gold credits and expressed frustration with this aspect.

One person mentioned, “I absolutely adore this remodeled version of the commando skin, but there is no chance I am going to spend 20 euros or spend two weeks grinding just to acquire it.”

“I’m grateful someone spoke up. The skin isn’t terrible, but it’s definitely not worth the high price,”another person added.

The cost of skins in Overwatch 2 has been a heavily discussed issue among the community, particularly regarding the Lilith Moira skin. This skin is currently only available through a $40 Battle Pass bundle. While some players have observed alterations in skin prices, it remains uncertain if there will be additional discounts in the future.
