Overwatch 2 Players Stunned to Discover D.Va’s Imbalance Was Due to a Bug

<p>D.Va, traditionally recognized as a fast Tank hero in Overwatch 2 due to her Boosters, was recently revealed to have a movement speed feature that was actually a bug.

On September 17, Blizzard rolled out a patch addressing concerns related to the “nightmare” Clash mode, providing buffs to several Support heroes and making essential changes to D.Va’s overpowered meta.

While players anticipated a nerf for D.Va in the Season 12 mid-patch, they were surprised to learn that it involved fixing a bug that had been mistaken for a feature.

The bug fix note stated, “Fixed an issue with D.Va’s Boosters movement speed stacking multiplicatively with speed-boosting abilities.”

This revelation astonished players, as it became clear that D.Va’s enhanced Boosters were unintentional. When this Tank hero utilized her Boosters in conjunction with Lucio or Juno’s speed-boosting abilities, she was moving at an extraordinary speed.

The community’s reaction was both humorous and engaging, as one Twitter user questioned how D.Va’s swift travel abilities could simply be a glitch.

Another post on X quipped about their frustrations experiencing hitscan against D.Va and Juno, reducing their struggles to a mere bug report.

Another response pondered if this bug had persisted for eight years, spanning the entire lifespan of both Overwatch and D.Va. While consensus was lacking, speculation arose that Blizzard may have overlooked this issue until the introduction of Juno, the only other Support hero capable of providing a speed boost.

With Juno now surging in popularity, players are eager to see if this adjustment to the D.Va meta influences Juno’s pick rate in the game.

D.Va isn’t alone in adjustments, as Moira’s changes in the mid-Season 12 patch showcase Blizzard’s struggle to effectively manage her. Moreover, Lifeweaver remains underpowered and has been affected by a separate bug.
