Overwatch 2 Revamps Tank Role in Upcoming Season 10 Patch

Overwatch 2 Revamps Tank Role in Upcoming Season 10 Patch

In the midseason update for Season 10, Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller has officially announced several tank buffs that will be included.

Tank players were greatly impacted by the most recent update, which featured a significant buff to the passive abilities of DPS heroes. This resulted in a 20% decrease in enemy healing received, leading to a strong negative reaction from the community. However, the developers have since revealed their intentions to address and resolve the issue.

In a recent blog post, Keller announced that tanks will be granted a 25% reduction in damage from headshots in the upcoming patch, as well as an increase in their knockback resistance.

At present, tanks experience 30% less knockback compared to other roles. However, in the upcoming midseason patch, this will be increased to 50%.

As a result, it will become significantly more challenging to successfully execute an environmental kill on any tanks or disrupt their hold on the front line. This is not the final buff that Tanks will be receiving, either.

Tank players are getting some nice buffs in the midseason update.

“In addition, we have implemented some global gameplay adjustments that will affect tanks. This includes reverting the Armor damage reduction to its original state, where it reduces five damage per projectile with a maximum of 50%. This means that heroes such as Reaper will now have to put in more effort to secure kills on tanks.”

Furthermore, a significant global health recovery adjustment is being implemented. In the current version of the game, all heroes regain 20 HP per second when not in combat. However, moving forward, this will be modified to 10 HP, plus 5% of their total health pool.

The Game Director explained that a hero, such as Reinhardt, will have their health restored at a rate of 45 health per second.

We will have to wait and see how this patch unfolds and if it will be sufficient to rekindle the thrill of playing as a tank in Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, it is still two weeks away.

The midseason patch, which is scheduled to go live on May 14, means that tank players will have to endure a few more weeks of pain before they can experience the impact of these buffs in their games.
