Overwatch 2 Season 12 Trailer Reveals Exciting World of Warcraft Collaboration

Overwatch 2 Season 12 Trailer Reveals Exciting World of Warcraft Collaboration

The trailer for Season 12 of Overwatch 2 has finally arrived, revealing an exciting teaser for a collaboration with World of Warcraft. Overwatch 2 has seen various entertaining crossovers in the past, including notable IPs like One-Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and Transformers. Now, Blizzard appears to be focusing on their own franchises for this upcoming event.

The end of the Season 12 trailer transitions to an empty vista of Eco Point: Antarctica, where the legendary Frostmourne sword from World of Warcraft is thrust into the ground by an unknown figure.

This iconic sword was wielded by Arthas, the Lich King, a central character in the World of Warcraft lore. Its inclusion is a clear indicator of a possible collaboration, as Frostmourne is among the most recognized weapons in gaming.

Given that the sword is featured in the teaser, we anticipate it will play a role in the collaboration, although its exact function remains uncertain. Past collaborations have introduced special limited-time modes (LTMs) and new cosmetics, such as skins for Overwatch Heroes, so similar offerings may be on the horizon.

It’s possible that heroes associated with swords or large weaponry, like Genji and Reinhardt, could receive new skins, or perhaps Illari, who wields a sword-inspired weapon, will be highlighted as well. However, nothing has been confirmed at this point, leaving us to speculate.

Overwatch has a history of integrating skins from WoW, as seen with Torbjorn’s Magni and Genji’s Illadin skins. We can also anticipate a potential new game mode along with exciting new skins and cosmetics for Overwatch heroes with this collaboration.

Historically, crossover events have premiered during mid-season updates. It is likely that the World of Warcraft collaboration will be introduced around September. We will keep you posted as Blizzard shares more official information regarding this exciting event.

Season 12 is set to introduce a brand new Hero named Juno and a fresh Mythic skin for Reaper. Additionally, the mode Clash will be added permanently, promising plenty of content to enjoy until the World of Warcraft collaboration unfolds.
