On September 3, Blizzard provided a brief yet significant update for Overwatch 2. The patch notes detail modifications to Juno’s abilities, as well as adjustments to several heroes such as Ashe, Sombra, and Winston.
Since its initial release on August 20, Season 12 has seen numerous adjustments to maintain balance, with the most recent hotfix being implemented on August 23. Apart from addressing some bugs, the majority of the patch notes focus on alterations to various heroes.
Barely a week has passed and the developers have already made significant changes to address the Sombra buffs that were deemed “unfun”by players. One notable modification is the decrease in Sombra’s damage over time on Virus from 90 to 75, which should make it less challenging to counter her.
Despite initial criticism for being underpowered, the new Support hero Juno received buffs on August 23 in response. She has since been adjusted once more, with a trade-off of increased fire rate for decreased damage and healing on her shots.
Winston’s damage per second has been reduced and Ashe’s primary fire damage has been decreased from 40 to 35, alongside an increase in her reload time. These changes were implemented across the board as part of the recent nerfs.
Despite the frustration of players with allies not staying on point and the lack of a crucial feature, there have been no updates made to the controversial Clash Mode, which has been described as a “nightmare”and can result in never-ending games.
Despite this, fans of Sombra will be happy to hear about her balance changes, while those who main Ashe, Winston, or Juno may be disappointed by the nerfs.
