In support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Overwatch 2 has recently re-released the Pink Mercy skin and introduced a new Rose Gold variant.
Ever since its introduction in 2018 as part of a charity campaign for the BCRF, Pink Mercy has consistently been the most highly demanded skin in Overwatch. Even after its temporary availability, players have continued to flood Overwatch’s social media with requests for the skin to make a return.
The demand for Overwatch accounts with Pink Mercy skins became so high that a black market emerged, allowing players to purchase them.
It comes as no surprise that the return of the skin has generated a significant reaction. In fact, the game quickly climbed up the Steam Top Sellers charts once the skin and Rose Gold bundle were made available in the store. It successfully secured the fourth spot on the list, only trailing behind Elden Ring, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, and the Steam Deck.
This is the raw power of a Mercy skin byu/Hemlo_Agent inOverwatch
On a post from Reddit, user Hemlo_Agent succinctly stated, “This is the true strength of a mercy skin.”Numerous others also noted the ironic situation of a game with mostly negative ratings ranking high on the charts.
One player commented, “I find it amusing how someone could write such a negative review. This game is widely hated.” Another user added, “It’s interesting how this game, despite being highly rated, receives so much dislike.”
Mercy’s devoted fan base, playfully known as the ‘Mercy Mafia’, has been a constant presence in the Overwatch community. They have a strong influence, especially when it comes to new Mercy skins, often resulting in a significant increase in viewership for events like Contenders.
Nevertheless, it is wonderful to witness. Clearly, this is being done for a noble purpose. Every penny earned (excluding taxes and service charges) will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. So not only will Mercy players finally obtain the skin they have desired for years, but it will also contribute towards a worthy cause in the end.
