Palworld Guide: Tips for Acquiring the Katana

In the vibrant world of Palworld, players are equipped with a wide array of weapons, from basic to advanced options, to engage with both hostile Pals and human adversaries. Ranged weapons provide the advantage of engaging foes from a distance; however, they necessitate ammunition, which can require significant resource gathering. This makes melee weapons, particularly the Katana, a compelling and practical choice during the mid-game. In the following guide, you will discover effective strategies for acquiring the Katana in Palworld.

To craft the Katana, you must first achieve level 29 and unlock its blueprint within the Technology Tree.

Unlocking the Katana blueprint requires the allocation of two Technology points, so ensure you have these available. You’ll also need access to one of the following crafting benches to proceed with crafting the Katana:

  • Weapon Workbench
  • High-Quality Workbench
  • Production Assembly Line

In addition to having the appropriate crafting bench, gather the following resources to craft at least one Katana:

  • Wood x20
  • Stone x20
  • Ingot x30

Obtaining Wood

Wood is one of the most readily available materials in Palworld. New players should consider acquiring an axe first, then use it on trees for easy wood collection.

As you advance and capture Pals with Lumbering abilities—such as the Lifmunk—these helpful allies can automatically gather wood for you after you establish a Logging Site on your base.

Collecting Stone

Stone is another easily obtainable resource early in the game. To gather stone, you will need a pickaxe; alternatively, you can collect it manually, but using tools will yield better results.

Once you reach level 7, unlock the Stone Pit in the Technology Tree and construct it at your base to start automating stone collection. However, it’s essential to have at least one mining pal, such as Digtoise or Cattiva, available to operate the Stone Pit.

Producing Ingots

To craft ingots, start by mining ore, which appears as shiny brown boulders. Then, reach level 10 in the Technology Tree to construct a Primitive Furnace.

Next, capture a fire-type pal with Kindling capabilities; Foxsparks is an excellent early-game choice for this role. When you interact with the Primitive Furnace and initiate a crafting order for ingots, your fire-type pal will handle the rest.

Though the Katana is classified as a Common rarity melee weapon, its damage output of 525 is exceptionally powerful for its tier, often defeating opponents in a single blow. In comparison, the Meowmere sword, a Legendary status weapon from Terraria, inflicts only 200 damage, highlighting the Katana’s superiority.

While the Katana has lower durability at 500 compared to Meowmere’s 2222, its high damage makes it a favored choice among players.
