The topic of “parental risk”among certain celebrities has sparked controversy. These public figures are facing backlash for their actions, which not only damage their own reputations, but also hinder their children’s progress instead of providing support. As a result, some children have been pushed to the point of severing ties with their parents.
On the 3rd, it was announced that Kim Soo-chan’s biological mother was the person who exposed her ex-husband’s wrongdoings on the show “Ask Anything.”
On the 2nd, “Ask Anything”on KBS Joy interviewed the biological mother of a well-known singer. During the interview, she expressed her worries about her ex-husband hindering her son’s success in the music industry. Kim Soo-chan, the singer’s fan club president, confirmed on his fan café that the mother mentioned in the story is indeed his own.
Kim Soo-chan revealed that he has been struggling to sleep and feeling anxious in the past few days. As an artist whose purpose is to spread joy to his fans, he is disappointed that he cannot share positive news on his fan café, especially with the recent rise in fans visiting due to his frequent local performances.
He persisted, “But avoiding the problem won’t make it go away. As there are still victims suffering from my father’s actions, I feel it is important to share this information with you first. Our final guest on today’s ‘Ask Anything’ segment is my mother, and her story involves me.”

She disclosed that he has been spreading false information to impede her son’s progress and has been physically abusive since their children were young. Furthermore, she mentioned that he abandoned her and their three children without providing financial support, and has made false accusations about her behavior.
In another instance, Han So-hee’s mother’s actions have once again caused her to feel embarrassed.
On the morning of the 3rd, actress Han So-hee’s agency, 9ATO Entertainment, released a statement addressing the personal matter involving her mother that was reported on the 2nd. The statement stated that Han So-hee learned about the situation through the article and is feeling deeply distressed.
The agency clarified, “We want to emphasize that this incident is completely independent of the actress and is solely the responsibility of her mother. We apologize for delivering unpleasant news that has no connection to her professional endeavors.”
A recent report from TV Chosun stated that Han So-hee’s mother, Shin Mo, was arrested by the prosecution for allegedly running illegal gambling establishments. Shin Mo is accused of operating 12 such establishments in Ulsan and Wonju between 2021 and last month, using a “front”to conceal her role. She had previously been fined for similar offenses.
Despite facing numerous lawsuits for fraud and similar accusations, Shin Mo has continued to make headlines. In 2020, a netizen made allegations that Han So-hee’s mother had embezzled gambling funds, leading to a scandal surrounding her debts.
In 2022, a comparable event took place, leading to Han So-hee’s agency issuing an explanation. They stated, “Shin Mo utilized an account under Han So-hee’s name when borrowing money. This account was opened without Han So-hee’s consent during her underage years and was used for borrowing money. There were multiple instances of this happening, including falsifying documents. A civil trial was held, and the court explicitly stated that these matters had no connection to Han So-hee.”
The agency recognized the difficulty of severing the parent-child relationship but expressed remorse for the consequences on those involved and called for a strong response to prevent future occurrences.
